Absolutely gorgeous object. Not sure I'd necessarily recommend it as a game. There's definitely something here but it feels about 85% finished. If you're into supply lines and logistics it could be rewarding. Interesting more than entertaining.
The art was really cool. But if you played one turn-based strategy game about exploration and capturing region. You've played this game. My biggest issue with the game is the lack of innovation. We played hundred of turn-based strategy game. What make this game interesting beyond cool art? Unfortunately this game cannot answer that question. 30 min is more than enough for me to try it out and realized i already played this game in a different skin. The game lack something that really get people going. And that's a shame.

Overall , it has a lot of unexploited potential hence the reviews being mixed, the universe ,art and style are captivating. If the devs don't let us down ,this is going to be a gem
interesting game, whit some deep good lore, unique apaerance a PERFECT soundtrack, pretty hard in you first time but in general if you like tactical rts, a good lore and relaxing or dancing at incredible soundtrack this is your game, dificult is very hard, managing logistics is a new method of torture but, if you are persistent and like the history, the characters and the game´s premise you will handle that, some feedback for the creators, the logistics sistem is tedious a way to improve it whould be amazing, the history writring and characters are in my opinion very well made and whit a lore that invites you to keep playing no mater the dificulty, i didint play the multiplayer or the off-campain sections but beside of that a petty good game, more improvements, units, habilities, quality of life, and bug fixing will make this game a Experience to enjoy at 110%!!
Project is simply unfinished
Neutral: Cantata is turn based strategy game with rather unique artstyle and a lot of interesting elements that are simply underdeveloped. Artstyle is great in my opinion but it is not for everyone, it feels kind of dream like i think and it also may carry some symbolic meaning for story Negatives: Technical problems: There is a bug that can just softlock you if you try to move units to fast and performance especially in the end of chapter 6 and in 2 sections of chapter 8 is not great, in skirmish mode the value of some regions is either displayed incorrectly or entire objective is broken. Tutorial: The 'Basic tutorial' is so basic that it does not even show off the first faction of the game properly, you are given explanation for, let me count, 3 units and very basic infrastructure of reign Gameplay: The game overall is slow. You can not explore areas in campaign fast because of sudden surge move from enemy that will deal damage to scout. Attacking enemy territory is also rather slow because you do not necessary have a resources to continue assault, this especially applies to reign faction which units nearly all use some sort of supplies and which also is the faction that introduces the game. The idea of supply lines is only really explored in chapter 4, in pretty much every other chapter it is not that important because you build your supply line building ones and then capture region which simply removes the whole lines problem by itself, on top of that enemies do not interact with supply lines at all, it does not matter if enemy is deep into your territory and it attacked you 1000 times it will still have ammo to shoot you with. Surge moves seem to be interesting thing but again it limits how fast player can explore, especially in early game where you need to build production which requires energy which is used for surge moves. Oh you also can't skip enemies animations if they are visible to you. AI: In this game AI is incredibly rudimentary, it only knows how to attack it does not try to relocate units strategically, it does not know how to build anything and it does not know how to use any of units abilities besides surge moves and surge attacks, it also sometimes will shoot it's own units for no reason. This means that campaign reruns, which you will need because score is dependent on turns taken, is really boring because you know where everything is and there is no variety in that. Map editor: IS SIMPLY UNFINISHED, it has no tutorial how to use it, it lacks objects from chapters 5 to 9, the objectives and trigger system works in mysterious ways and on top of that i have no idea if deleting unit is even possible Positives: Art: Pixel artist clearly worked hard on look of units and their animations, pretty much all units are distinct on battlefield, 2d art is also quite well done it, in my opinion carries some meaning in story and supports the dream like atmosphere, which i believe is the goal. In conclusion artist did an amazing job at supporting story, but no proper AI for campaign or skirmish mode and general performance issue force gameplay to be not as fun as it had potential to be.
Really wanted to like this one but there is just so many little things that make the game too annoying to play Basically the longer the game goes on, the more tedious stuff you have to do and there seems to be no fixes with the 1.0 release
A unique game of large scale tactics with gorgeous art.
Another deserted, unfinished game. Shame on the developers…
Not for me. I found it really poorly done.
I was Post Number 25105 that requested you add the tagline "Make the game your own: Mods = Gods".
