A really fun mix of action-rpg and tower-defense. It doesn't really even feel jank (just a little) like a lot of people say, just very limited in scope. I didn't really run into any bugs in my playthrough. Once you get a few movement-related spells the movement is fun to master. The damage buff related to height differential really makes you care about the terrain of every tower location, which spells to slot into your loadout, and some of the tower locations have unique mechanics. There's also plenty of little bonuses to find out around in the world, with enough equipment that you can sort of spec into a "build". The story is light, but there - I like that it's left a bit vague, since your imagination will fill in the blanks for you. Also surprised that it's fully voiced, which is fun. Vibes are somewhere in the middle of darker Studio Ghibli / Attack on Titan / Shadow of the Colossus. Would be nice if there was a bit more music variety, but it's short enough that it doesn't grate too much. Would've been fun if you eventually unlocked more "burggeist" to command, rather than just increasing the platform size on the one. I think scaling from 1 to 3 over the course of the game would've been really cool and let you do 'builds' on them too, but I can see how that didn't really fit into the scale present here.

BURGGEIST is one of those games that mystifies and intrigues, I want to know everything about this game. It is unique and compelling. Everything in the game is things you've seen before: open world, tower defense, rpg upgrades; but they are done in such an intriguing way that you can't help to play on. This IS creativity and more of what the gaming community needs!
Indie development is a gift to humanity that keeps on giving. Never quite played anything like it
Like it a lot
This game is fantastic. It has the type of magic you only see in games where developers give a damn about more than just market viability. Explorations is super rewarding, and the stories are fun and engaging. A genuine 10/10: better than Cyberpunk.
I really enjoyed my time with this game. It perfectly captures the PS2-era game that you only barely remember but can't find anything about. It's not fully polished, but it it oddly adds to the ambience, where 3D games weren't quite figured out yet and RPG elements still didn't know what they wanted to be. Gameplay is fun, but 100%ing it is only for the dedicated. To complete the game isn't particularly difficult, but the difficulty ramps up quickly as you go off the beaten path. If you're already looking at the store page, you're gonna want to play it. You'll know well within the refund window if the game is for you.
This is a wonderful hidden gem. It may look strange, it may feel strange, but it is the strange that makes BURGGEIST one of the most interesting games I've played.
if he was jewish his name would be geistburg
This game is the true definition of a hidden gem. The world building and the combat are just so engaging. I'll def be playing update 2.
Amazing one-of-a-kind genre-defying game, very unusual combat system and an open world that's big enough to where it feels like one, but not too big where it's a chore to traverse. A real hidden gem. It's not perfectly polished, but the best word that can be used to describe every aspect of this game is "intriguing".
