Reviews
Worst part of this game is that there is not more of it. Second worst is that it ruined all other rhythm shooters for me.
BPM is just straight up insane. The music? Absolutely phenomenal. Every track just gets you going while you’re blasting demons. The game itself feels great too: movement isn’t sluggish at all (and that’s coming from a sweaty Octane main in Apex, so trust me. I HATEEE clunky movement in FPS games, like Rust for example). It’s quick, responsive, and just feels right. The visuals might throw you off at first with those crazy effects and shaders looking kinda overbearing, but bro, once you get into it, they fit the game so well. It makes the game feel unique in a way you don’t really get anywhere else. And I don’t mean “unique” in the generic sense, this game actually is something different. It's called a rhythm game, but that shouldn’t push you away. I don’t even think about it like that. I play it for the music, for the chaos, and for passing time by absolutely tearing through stuff. The rhythm part comes naturally. dashing, shooting, reloading.. it all just falls into place with the beat without you forcing it. And then the builds!! BRO. the builds go crazy. You can make yourself so fast that you’re basically a blur and can’t even tell what’s going on. Or stack damage and delete bosses in like 4 shots while sacrificing speed and health. Or you can go infinite ammo with insane fire rates but low damage, just spraying nonstop. There’s so much in between too, and every run feels somewhat different from the last because of the amount of spells, upgrades and random layout (yes, every time you plat the game it randomly generates the dungeon, meaning speedruns are up to chace and skill. On top of all that, there’s a bunch of characters, all with their own weird mechanics. Some are easier, some are pure pain, but you can cheese a lot if you experiment. And if you think that’s all there is, nah—go try Hellish Mode with every single character. Especially ones like Skuld (Loses 1 HP every quarter beat but gains 5 HP every time you shoot an enemy, forcing you to never stop and decide. you dont have that luxury here.) or Herfjötur (Uses coins instead of HP and shields. Taking damage will make you lose half of your coins (yes there is coin management in the game too)). Those runs will humble you quick. ESPECIALLY with Sanngriðr where you die if you get hit even once. I like a challenge but DAMN ts difficult. EDIT: ALSO you can have custom music, so literally any music you want if you follow through with the simple and easy tutorial using audacity. Literally infinite replayability So do I recommend it? ABSOLUTELY. It’s epic music, sick gameplay and a unique style that keep you coming back. If you want something that feels like nothing else, then congrats, this is it. Side Note: if you like the visual style of the game, try Devil Daggers. Also pretty cool, but not nearly as expansive when it comes to gameplay.
Metal:HS
Amazing rythm shooter and an amazing roguelike, with absolutely peak tracks and visuals.
I'll just be blunt and say this game definitely has flaws. The color choices, the variety between runs, etc. But these flaws did not stop me from having a good time. This game is quite fun if you give it a chance and I really respect it for trying something new. The 100% is fun too, just having you win with all characters on varying difficulties. Overall, good game that tried something new. Give it a try.
The soundtrack slaps. The gunplay is fun. I beat Sanngriðr on hellish. The item that freezes enemies breaks the dodge indicator. The random enemy spawns can put enemies right in front of the entrance. The bosses are kinda easy after 80 hours because they're quite slow in comparison to the swarms of enemies you need to dodge in normal rooms. The soundtrack slaps. The soundtrack slaps. The soundtrack *slaps*.
Music is good but very unbalanced. Just go play Metal Hellsinger it's so much better
Great music, fun gameplay
