If metal:hellsinger and the binding of isaac had a baby and they added some risk of rain 2 to the mix. I would prefer it if it was less luck-based. I think just like the binding of isaac the 'hard' difficulty is actually easier than 'easy' because I got way more drops on hard and beat the whole game when I couldn't even get through the first area in easy mode. Don't think I will be playing more cuz the other characters don't seem to be having a different mechanic or playstyle. Game needs more enemy variety too. But I really enjoyed this its fun till you beat it once type roguelike I guess.

I really want to like this game but the feel of everything from the beat timings to the reloads and even the colour palette just find the right mix to overstimulate and stress me the ♥♥♥♥ out.
Amazing soundtrack, (pretty) well-executed (but not quite) idea. I haven’t played that long yet, but I think it’s enough to give my humble opinion on this game. And hey, somehow, it even gave me the urge to write a review (I know, I’ve got issues)—what else could I do? As I said, the soundtrack is fantastic (like "mmmmmmmh that's GOOD" levels of fantastic), and the beat-based gameplay is very enjoyable. I personally don’t mind the graphics in terms of artistic direction (just check the screenshots, you’ll get the idea). And the way each level shifts in vibe to match the music is really well done. That said, the optimization is pretty rough, though low settings run fairly well and don’t look too bad compared to cinematic mode. Now, the cons (I know, I’m jumping straight to the negatives—I’m just that eager). First off, while I don’t mind the art style, I do think the game struggles a bit with visibility. Sometimes it’s too dark, sometimes vegetation gets in the way, and too often, enemies just blend into the environment (the contrast isn’t high enough, and those little yellow highlights don’t quite do the job). The result? Taking what feels like unfair damage. And since you can’t take more than four hits unless you get a health upgrade, well... that’s kind of a big deal. Also, in my humble opinion (again), the game is just too hard for its own good. When Easy Mode is what most games would call Hard Mode, maybe it’s time to reconsider the difficulty settings. And making Practice Mode lock you out of certain levels? Not the best choice. In terms of RNG, I think there’s just a bit too much of it. The game gets even harder because, if you don’t snag a decent weapon or some OP items early on (we’re talking double damage, double shot, infinite ammo levels of OP), it can quickly turn into a slog. I imagine this gets better over time—it's already improving for me—but it's still a shame. New players aren’t exactly being coaxed to stick with it. Of course, some people—deeply in love with the game (which I totally get, the core concept is great)—will dismiss these complaints with the wisdom of the ancients: “ Git gud. ” Or, for those versed in the truly arcane texts, the sacred glyph whose meaning scholars still debate to this day: “¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ”. But honestly, that’s what frustrates me. I don’t think I’m that bad at games—in fact, I’d say I’m quite okay. I even got a few friends (1) to try it, and after some very scientific testing, the results are in: the average player will likely hit a wall of frustration at some point (which, to be fair, happens in a lot of games, especially roguelikes). But this game? This game made me want to write about it. So... there’s that (it's not even that bad). Seriously though, it’s a shame in terms of accessibility. It wouldn’t have taken much to make it more welcoming, and I just can’t imagine the developers didn’t notice this flaw (which, again, isn’t the end of the world—I like the game and will keep playing). But still, why? I wonder. Lastly, a few nitpicks that I can think of at the moment and that add up: - The starting gun is just too bad, seriously. I’ve seen water pistols do more damage. - Sometimes the beat just feels... off? (I know, groundbreaking critique. What else can I say?) - Please, please add a confirmation button for the restart option in the menu. I tried to change my FOV during my best run to date and accidentally restarted. I am fine, don’t worry. (I’m not fine.) - I firmly believe that the flying enemies of this game are the digital embodiment of spite, coded by developers who feed on human suffering. -The difficulty scaling in this game makes no sense—one room is a relaxing picnic, the next is a live reenactment of Dante’s Inferno. Anyway, I’ll keep playing until I beat the game at least once on Easy and, ideally, on Hard with at least 2-3 characters. Should be totally doable—my sadly erased god-run would have proved it (let me convince myself of that much for now, ok?). Oh, and just a quick note : this review took me forever to write (my bad I know). So, if you could... I don’t know, drop a like (I could really use some validation here), a comment, or even better, engage in a lively debate with me about independent FPS rhythm roguelikes with a female protagonist , or anything else really, that’d be great. You know, just a little scholarly exchange to make it all worth it. We're on Steam after all—what else could I ask for? And really tho, the musics slaps harder than Thor's hammer at a drum solo competition. Well done to Sam Houghton and Joe Collinson!
I'll give it that. This was probably the first of it's kind, a rhythm game that is also a shooter. Sadly it just feels dreadful to play. Gunplay is unimpactful, the starting gun you have is especially terrible. BPM probably also didn't need to be a roguelike. Upgrades commit the typical cardinal sin of mid roguelikes by being uninteresting. You will most likely die many times to an enemy attack which can be only dodged once you actually understand how said enemy works. So every time It's back to boring first stage. That's why I'm saying it should have been a regular game with handcrafted levels. Other smaller gripes I have is how bad the readability of the game is. Many stages, including the first one, have this orange filter while the enemies and their projectiles are also colored orange. Also the music is not bad in a vacuum but overall very generic which is bad for a game that is all about music. I leave the review with the usual I say about mediocre roguelikes: The market is so oversaturated at this point. There are so many better games of this genre fighting for your money and time that you should really look elsewhere.

One minor thumbs up for being a pioneer. The rest is just depressing. I want it to be good. I like punishing games. I don't like unfairly punishing games that clap a majority of your health bar because you couldn't see the one shield guard in the mass of monochrome. In a game where you're punished for not reacting immediately, the screen can't be entirely one color. There are no instant sight reads, it's just a mass of red-orange (save for the literal last level and one side track). And if you're going to make a rhythm game, make the reactions to enemies actually follow something resembling a rhythm. Just because they shoot on beat doesn't mean I have to dodge on beat, which feels awful and ruins flow. Good concept ruined by poor balance and the color orange.
игра в которой ты будешь играть под ритмичный битбокс игры убивая различных монстров и боссов треки восхитительны не надоедают , различные локации с различными треками радуют и мотивируют проходить игру дальше ставлю ритмичный луйк
From the time I played of about 30 minutes, this game was a cheap feeling roguelike garbage where I felt like I made zero progress and learned nothing to get better at the game . No upgrades ,no ability to unlock other weapons for characters using an in game currency. Easy and Hard are the same thing so at that point just remove the Easy difficulty and rename practice to Easy. Thankfully it has auto rhythm so I was just able to focus on the game . Starting weapon feels awful to use on the first character and you can't save up and buy a better weapon or more skills so you feel like you are making progress. If you want my honest thoughts ,this is one of those roguelikes that when you play it normally it sucks and it is really basic and generic but playing it on God mode makes it a x10 better experience because you can actually have fun despite flaws ,sadly no god mode for this game . Overall I think this game is awful and yet another awful roguelike I never want to play again unless they add god mode and let you earn achievements with it. It felt generic like every roguelike I played before, nothing new about it. Generic gameplay ,generic music and no story from what I could tell. this epic rock music is just a lie ,it is generic music with no soul behind it. Epic rock music is Jimi Hendrix , Dire Straits , CCR etc.. , you know the classics and not some generic garbage that sounds epic for the sake of being epic. Overall this game for me it is yet another roguelike I tried and it ended up just being awful with no soul in it. Corporate slop if you want to call it that . If you want a fun experience this ain't it.
