Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1/day in the week to Aug 11 → 1.29/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About
A roguelike survival adventure inspired by Robinson Crusoe — where every decision matters, and every mistake can cost you everything.

You step into the role of Daniel, a merchant cast ashore in the 17th century and forced into a brutal fight for survival. Unprepared for the wilderness, you must trust your instincts, learn through failure, adapt to ever-changing dangers, and endure a world that shows no mercy.

A highly realistic, systems-driven world where everything reacts. Day and night cycles, weather, fire, and liquids interact in complex ways - creating endless, unpredictable challenges.
The island can be explored freely. Beaches, riverlands, jungle, and other biomes offer different resources. Every interaction encourages experimentation and instinctive problem solving. You just have to be creative.

Every failure is a lesson. Learn, adapt, and return wiser and better equipped each time. The island is relentless — prowling predators, violent storms, sickness, territorial threats, poisonous plants, and tense encounters with a local tribe.
No two runs are the same. Resources, weather, and dangers shift with every attempt, forcing you to rethink how you survive.

Uncover the past of a stranded survivor — the life before the shipwreck and the uncertain future ahead. As you explore, piece together who you are, why you were on the ship, and whether your arrival on the island is mere coincidence or something far more meaningful.
There are signs of others. Whether they become allies or enemies depends entirely on you.

Tailor the experience to your playstyle. Adjust day length, world intensity, and survival systems to shape the journey you want — whether you crave a relentless challenge or prefer a slower, exploration and base-building focused adventure.

I would say 8.5 out of 10 for this one. It is an excellent game with some fantastic motion control implementation. The only thing holding it back for me are the technical issues. I had some crashes and more graphical issues. I also feel like Chapter 4 has some issues, particularly the implementation of the talking stick. It's still a very strong experience and a must play VR title. If the smooth out the issues with patches, its an easy 10/10.

Best game ever created in my opinion. 1. Taps into what your dopamine receptors were designed for, foraging hunting diplomacy all that. 2. Indie, not corporate slop. 3. Everything, and I mean everything, is immersive. Only thing that would remind you playing a game is the health meters and menu. Instead of a glowing white eating meter popping up after the shell of a coconut magically disappears, you have to either scoop the meat in chunks, or bring the whole half coconut to your mouth and see the bites being taken out of it. 4. Beautiful graphics, everything would fit in if you saw it in the real world. (No blocky models, single-colored textures, etc. Now, every game has its problems. And Bootstrap island is no exception. For example, and this is entirely a me problem, i'm running this game on a quest 2 on a decent PC, and everything is blurry. Is this something the devs could fix? I assume not. But you know what, I still have almost 70 hours as of writing this, and i barely conciously notice it. And there is the tribe problem, it's extremely repetitive to trade and speak with the tribe... but you know what? Right now, it's not supposed to be incredibly replayable. (Even though it's not to hard to replay it). It's because they continue to update this game, adding more BANGER additions. Pretty soon, we won't be complaining about the tribe's repetitiveness. Cause it probably won't be repetitive. (At least for the time being.) And hey, if you are really desperate to have something new, just download the mod menu on nexus. Takes literally 2 minutes. If i had to rate this out of ten...9.7/10. Now, one final warning. This game is absolutely not for everyone. Seeing as 35% of people who bought this game survived just one night, (Which takes like 20 minutes) pretty much shows that. Only a very specific person this game caters to, and I just so happen to fall under the terms. In conclusion, if you are thinking of playing this game, play it. Just try it. If the idea of traversing a diverse landscape, uncovering mysteries, (and wondering of some that will never be uncovered) absolutely buy this. (Which for 20 bucks is an absolute steal.) And to the devs, if you are reading this, thanks for making such an astounding game, and by ALL MEANS DO NOT STOP UPDATING THIS GAME. My heart would break. Quite fast. Bye all. Ah, and one more thing if the devs do respond to this. Are the massive kapok trees, (Ceiba pentandra) supposed to be bigger than they are in real life? Or is it just my headset warping size? If they are meant to be bigger, how much bigger? Thanks.
rating: grapics: 9/10 game play: 7/10 hunting: 8/10
Performance could be better and some gameplay elements, but climbing to the top of the mountain and staring out over the island, thinking of all of the unlocks to be had and areas to explore, has me looking forward to putting my headset back on. It has been years since I have had that feeling. Awesome game.
If I had to pick a few games to show to people the power of Virtual Reality gaming, Bootstrap Island would be high on that list. BI is one of the few virtual reality games that understands how to utilize the scale and medium of virtual reality to immerse you better in the experience than any other flatscreen version of it could do. The controls are very intuitive, simple and fun. Cracking open coconuts, cooking crabs, loading muskets and building stuff is extremely fun and satisfying to do with VR's hand motion controls. Every single interaction is built around that simple principle and the setting of a bleak survival situation makes things super fun all around. However, I think the game does need some fine tuning in other aspects. Story progression around a certain point feels pretty vague - and I understand that it's supposed to feel like a no hand-holding experience, but past a certain point, the story only progresses if you play the game naturally so the player does not know if they must be doing something specific. Also, while the game's basic and spoiler-related elements and mechanics are very fun, things do end up feeling repetitive. Overall, you get exactly what you see in the trailers/promo images, which is GREAT. I am excited to see new content added to this game.

All though the game can be quite demanding of your pc specs at times it feels amazing to survive on the tropical island, scavenging for wood and food while watching the sun, hoping that you can set up a fire in time
This game looks good it is interesting but runs horrible and it feels nauseating walking/running around This game doesn't feel like a cashgrab but it is unplayable to me... either i lower everything and look at pixels or get good settings/low fps and vomit.... and i don't even like roguelike games... so for me is a pass. ~5/10
