Blueberry Garden

Blueberry Garden is a 2D platformer where you control a strange bird-man in an esoteric, dystopian hand drawn MS-Paint tier 2D world. As well as normal jumping, you can fly, as well as pick up and move objects. The overall game intent is to provide an esoteric experience rather than focusing on proper narrative or engaging gameplay, so the game lacks these basic fundamentals. The hand drawn art is reasonable, but overall this isn't much of a game. 2D platforming is an old, dead genre. The use of hand drawn art instead of richer, contemporary PC graphics is problematic (I thought the guy had a huge weird beard for a while until I realised it's supposed to be a beak). It's also aging badly. There's no support for 1080P or proper widescreen formats, let alone UHD.

This is such a weird platformer, I have no idea how to describe it.

It's okay. I get it. But, it's really very simple. Must have been nice at the time. It is interesting in an odd way.

Lovely little game, lots of fun exploring the world and little ecosystem. It walks a tight line between providing a challenge and providing a little sandbox. And it does it pretty well. Highly recommended.

This is a relaxing, and very whimsical game. Apart from basic prompting to help you control the game, there's no direction about what to do or what's happening. You will find it out yourself as you experiment - you can fail, and you can eventually win. If you feel like a bit of whimsical escapism, this is it.

One of the first indie games I purchased on steam. At the time it felt like an art experience, which was unlike anything else with all those polished consoles games I was so used to. Nowadays this game will at most give you an insight into the state of PC indie games in the late 00s.
