For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away.
The game now has a full solo mode allowed, thanks to the Eternal League.
So after all this time I can now recommend it. We now have our numerous factions playable in numerous matches. A lot of love has been put in programming this title, which we can see on the level of detail and polish on areas such as cheerleader animations and quality of detail. It was marred at release with some wrong business model! some of it has been improved now. Eternal League has content: even if you play with 100% victories in solo, it should need more than 160 matches in this league to get all its trophies! wow! and this is in addition to a campaign (playable with any race!) which has been added. We do have countless matches to play, and in addition I discovered how Community Content and contests are well integrated, proposing additional official solo competitions with entirely new set of rules . A great way to animate the game! I do point out at the end of this message how bad the AI is. It's neat to occupy you solo, blocking and making cages, giving block+dodge to its players. It can make players work a bit for their victories. It's also enough to cause you injuries. In some matches, such as one match in six, it will make you find it actually strategic. But on the other end it usually is catastrophic on its own and never, ever makes a single pass. I will edit it out if once I reach the Pro league (in the Eternal League) if it changes script. Still a recommendation because of its new solo features! There is a lot of love put into other areas of this game, such as sportive UI, looks, atmosphere, content. Thanks to the eternal league, you can now play and with many trophies to collect needing 100+ matches. I was one who was really disappointed in the lack of a solo feature, or "better solo features", but as you'll see below, the Eternal has lot of details and match variations, enough to keep me entertained while I explore it at least the first time. I played five matches in the amateur league so far. I noticed AI does use "the turtle" mode too often. Aside from this there were a few good things it did.
Some good points:
There are a lot of end game statistics and saved history. Eternal League is created with a lot of fun elements and variations. I started in the Amateur Autumn league and I could play between many different setups. After I got 5 victories (last one was crazy) I earned the league badge. After that I could click again on Eternal League, and saw it switched to Winter. It got a lot more options too: I could play a normal Amateur Winter League, or play the "Agility Championship" - which was mentioned to have teams with a lot of dodge - or play the No Turnover Arena - which means there is no longer a turnover when failing an action! All these have their separate and own trophies. So I'll have to get through three winters to have them all, possibly! Agility Championship, which I picked, is also played different, with a Round Robin. Playing the Rookie Play-off is what allows me to go PRO but in that case I have to win three competitions, and so far I earned one. I applaud these rules. I would have loved a world map, but aside from this, they got creative on this. BB3 rules compared to BB2 use the new edition rules. In the main differences I saw, there is a Pass attribute and in some cases with a draw you can have an entire round of +8 turns, which changes how a faction should behave to preserve forces. And XP can be spent either by choosing a skill, which adds more value to the champion and costs more points, or having it rolled randomly, which costs fewer points, adds less value, gives more varied, unoptimized but more fun cognitive content to handle on your players. Left problems are: - commentators are the english ones and are not fun. They seem bored and the voices are a bit distant. They don''t have enough text to work with and the situational text is not always adapted to the situation, rather weakly delivered, and far, far too repetitive (such as having only a few ones for blocking). There is a clear lack of faction-related texts and jokes - base cheerleaders are not faction related. - there is battle pass and if you play up to level 50, you will unlock the faction DLC it contains for free! If you don't play it to level 50, you can purchase it (a faction costs about 10$ in currency). I was wary of the cosmetics, but I see that overall, they kept developing new content thanks to this model. - AI... well, made some interesting moves, but some far too many cages (about always). It also miscalculates when best to use their rerolls. However, I am still in the Amateur League.
Details about: AI
And now a bad point though. I added this part to my review after playing against my first AGI teams and having 6 more matches. And... AI really does not know how to play the ball. I don't know why the studio did not find the ambition for a real pass gameplay. Did developers ever play the board game? I know I say it as a joke, but the AI behavior years after release is odd. And by this I mean that it looks absolutely broken. They do absolutely NOTHING with the ball and stay near a side line, waiting for a solution. they use dodge and sprint just to set up a cage, very often behind in their own grounds instead of going forward. This is really bad. Strength teams, however, played rather ok, still the same issue with cages but they got the muscles and the way to score enough problems and holes in an enemy strategy, so with them it makes at least a bit of sense. Also on some matches, oddly enouhg the team covers more defense areas than others. But come on? is there only one AI script for the game? I really want to send more lovely argument for the team and devs, and I do love that they added the Eternal League gameplay mode. So I keep my recommendation, but this AI needs work. There are people who did good AI bloodbowl scripts on their spare time for the java version. However, I am still in Amateur league so maybe all of this is done to make sure player gets some victories first. I'll see how this plays out in later championships! So as pointed out, considering it never makes a pass (and I mean, with elf teams) and always uses the same cage strategy and same stupid dodges, it feels bad, bad enough to give corrupted thoughts toward whoever had the chaotic insolence to put it out. And be thankful for the ones who pressured to deliver this Eternal League very neat, comprehensive mode. It does not have the World Map of BB1 (I still miss that), but I find it better than the custom league of BB2. About AI I know the comment comes as aggressive, but daring to make a BB game (and cyanide has done chaos league and BB for years) and not mastering or trying the science proves wrong skill on the engineering side. ======= As I said, the addition of a solo mode really fixed the experience for me. I can finally enjoy Bloodbowl 3. Albeit with some lingering issues. That took time, but now that the Eternal League is there, I can at least play. Even with 12 unlocked races, there are many many matches to play with it, and it's fun to play enough matches to unlock +1 race. I just hope they will upgrade the AI now, as a first priority! (maybe that was not conveyed clearly :D ) Oh, and I absolutely ADORE the menu music, and the sportive atmosphere the game puts ourselves into!

I am immensely disappointed. I have spent countless hours in Blood Bowl 2, and I absolutely love that game. This one? Well, I'm not so sure. Pros: - Character Customization - Arena Customization that's it... Cons: - There is no solo league - Opponents always start at a higher TV if you are playing against AI - Multiple factions are behind paywalls - The UI is rubbish at best - The very character customization is locked behind a microtransaction paywall... All-in-all I am very disappointed with this game. If Cyanide Studio and Nacon somehow reads this: I don't want a refund, I want you to be better.
DO NOT BUY if you are not in Europe. Every action must synch with the servers in France before it happens AND they stupidly programmed the game (Netcode) so it can't handle long distance over the net. In the US, EVERY action waits 3-5 seconds before happening, even if it is single player/campaign mode. Every turn it steals/wastes 40-70 seconds, and you end up waiting/losing time on a clock that doesn't stop counting down no matter what... It is unplayable! I got fed up after a few hours, but Steam wouldn't refund because over 2 hours playtime. The developers know about this problem and won't fix it. Don't waste your time/money on this! Oh, I forgot about the false advertising. it says you can use the other/newer teams in the seasons, but you can't without grinding 30-50 hours per team (double that if not in Europe) to "earn" them. Or you could pay $10 per. Just pass on this poorly made cash-grab.
Playing Blood Bowl 3 after BB2 is like getting a new paint job on your car. But instead of getting your car painted, they smear mud all over it and break your windshield.
The 2nd game is still better. Especially if you want to play Eternal League.
Not at good as you are hoping, not as bad as it could be. Still impossible to give a positive review for. Basically all the worst and greediest microtransaction BS you hate to see is present and none of the stability. The only thing I hate more than rolling two skulls after using a team reroll to try and avoid double skulls is being forced to be always online even when I want to just play against the AI. Also love being forced to "concede" a match I'm winning 4-0 because the game softlocks while I'm trying to use a team re-roll. Sure the graphics got a slight upgrade but the overall UI is still pretty bad. The only improvement here over previous entries in the franchise is the new rule set and player rosters. To paraphrase a line from PennyArcade imagine eating your favorite cookie but it's got human teeth sprinkled in like chocolate chips. No matter how much you want that cookie you tend to think twice before going back for more and the breaks you take between bites gets longer and longer. Maybe when players were desperate for ANY Games Workshop content this would be more tolerable but frankly diving back into this version of Bloodbowl has mostly been a huge disappointment. Maybe one day Nuffle will bless us with a version of this game the fans truly deserve
Wow, the negative reviews of this game were not kidding. Awful UI, awful tournament behavior, and the queue times are so long you'll just get matched up with whatever 140k team happens to be online at that moment. And gosh, even after nerfs, this game is way too predatory, especially for a game that you have to pay up-front for. For reference, teams can be bought in the shop for 750 warpstone. You get 10 warpstone for free every 2 days. That is way too much of a commitment for a game that doesn't even have Snotlings yet. I will stick to the tabletop game, where I can use custom minis.
Unfortunately refunding, the game is insane in it's MTX greed for being a PAID GAME; the MTX currency is very grindy to earn with teams costing 750, with premium bundles giving just short or just more than you need. The game of course has a shop were you could also buy star players, cosmetics, arenas and more. The game also has a battlepass which is both paid and free with both being pretty bad. This battlepass system does technically give the new team for free if you reach the last tier of the pass, but if you miss it or haven't played since the beginning you have to buy each team with premium currency. this part is more subjective but imo aesthetics also took a hit, the new art style is worse, with models looking weird, the people in the stands not wearing their faction clothing but instead T-Shirts and Jeans for instance. The UI is also really bad, both Team Management UI as well as in-game UI, it does take time to learn it but even with that the UI is still pretty bad. I REALLY REALLY like BB2 and DON'T WANT to give this game a bad review but with the MTX and other issues I'll have to unfortunately give the game a negative review, when the game gets better I'll probably pick it up again and change my review but for now ill keep this up as my review of BB3 with it being known that i refunded the game. My hope/cope is that the game will be better or at least have an edition/bundle with the teams added to that point like what they eventually did with BB2, when they do the update later this year for the Rules update from the new Tabletop Edition turning the game into Warhammer: Blood Bowl.
The game of Blood Bowl is good, but the developers made the video game version really really bad. It's crazy. User Interface errors occurring even after years of release, player and grass grafics never quite seeming to fit together, not even touch downs registering on time with the sounds...arg. And then it is filled with silly micro transactions. Somehow this was a huge step down from Blood Bowl 2. Very disappointing. :( But your are kind of stuck with this if you want to play the new rules, so I guess we just have to suck it up.
Blood Bowl is a great game. Blood Bowl 3 is not. It has many bugs in which the developers say that they have fixed only to either A) not fix them or B) introduce new bugs. The game will often hang on certain events and require you to ALT-F4 and load back in. The single player content is largely terrible. The AI is not capable of putting up any sort of a challenge so if you are after a single player blood bowl game you are looking in the wrong place. From a multiplayer perspective you have a few options. Private leagues, ladder and arena. Public ladder is the only mode to have skill based match making, however regardless of skill it will put teams with very different team values in a match. Expect differences of 100K-200K on a regular basis. Fresh teams are offered no protection so expect to run into underdog match ups. This is made worse by the short number of games before redraft, killing a lot of new teams off and making it very hard to learn to get better as you will either be curb stomping low TV teams or getting blasted by high TV teams. Rosters that start with very few skills are penalised on ladder due to this, so despite the game having a lot of teams (many are paywalled) only a handful are really viable long term in ladder. Arena is better - all teams are an even playing field with certain rosters getting more skills if they are worse. However arena offers no skill based match making (other than games won/lost) so top coaches can and will delivery some heavy losses to newcomers. Arena also doesnt offer any player development (as intended) which is important for a lot of players. Its also a sparsely populated game mode. TLDR - from a technical performance perspective Blood Bowl 3 sucks. From a single player experience Blood Bowl 3 is awful. From a multiplayer perspective ladder is horrible experience. Arena is the shining light but has problems for newer players with no skill based match making.
