About
Step into the world of BLACKWOOD, a gritty third-person action thriller that blends smooth, responsive combat with cinematic storytelling.
By day, you are a seemingly ordinary store owner, managing your small DVD shop in an authentic recreation of New York, 2012. When night falls, you descend into the city’s underworld as a contract killer, caught between survival, morality, and a past that refuses to stay buried.
Anton's story takes place over the course of three Acts. Each Act is a complete part of the overall story, with new missions added in between the major acts.
Current Act Roadmap:
Act 1: September 16, 2026
Act 2: March 2027
Act 3: September 2027
When you purchase BLACKWOOD, you are purchasing the full game. All future acts will be provided as free updates to existing owners. If you buy BLACKWOOD at launch, you will not need to purchase Act 2 or Act 3 separately.
Act One Coming September 16, 2026.

Gunplay is fast, stylish, and unforgiving. Keep the Action relentless with fluid movement options like dives, rolls, and slides. Every encounter feels cinematic yet responsive, giving you the freedom to create your own moments of chaos.
BLACKWOOD’s signature mechanic: countless contextual takedowns. From one-on-one hand-to-hand executions to using the environment around you, every fight is an opportunity to end your enemies with precision and style. Grounded, weighty, and satisfying to master.
Your store is more than just a front. It's where you live, decorate, and roleplay a “normal” existence. Buy and sell DVDs, change outfits, interact with your apartment, and explore RPG elements that make your dual identity feel tangible. The contrast between day and night defines the world and the choices you make.
BLACKWOOD introduces a cast of flawed, human characters navigating a violent city full of secrets. Every ad, tattoo, and poster tells a story. Every mission pulls you deeper into a web of conspiracies and consequences.
Take control of your DVD shop and decide how hands-on you want to be. Restock shelves, organize inventory, set prices, and jump in at the counter to keep profits high. Let it run on autopilot, and you will get by. Manage it smartly, and you can watch it turn into a powerful source of income

Cannot in good conscience recommend this game. Performance is desperately lacking in spite of outdated quality. The game feels janky and unfinished. I was perfectly alright with waiting for the story / acts to be completed but the systems already in the game do not feel thought-out, which is a shame as the premise is promising. Do not buy.

The game in it's current state is decent enough for how much it's asking. The gunplay and takedowns are great, the melee combat needs a bit of polishing, feels a bit rough. The DVD store management it's simple in concept(keep the store stocked and the clerk sells them, you can come in the evening before closing to the daily chores) so nothing to be bothered about. The only downsides I saw are the fact that: -the ragdoll physics are a bit weird sometimes -the dx12 version is very stuttery and green flashes so I recommend dx11 -the ammo pickup from weapons doesn't really work, you need to go multiple times over a weapon for Anton to pick up the ammo -collectibles are vanishing from the wall and your counter is reset when you pick up a new one -the weapon variety on the black market is really scarce(like 4 pistols and 3 ARs) and yes you can buy other guns with your clean money but given the fact that the bulk of money comes from the black market I refuse to spend my dvd and rent money on a 800 dollar pistol Those who read this hope it helps you in your decision of picking or not the game up.

better than gta 6 omggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg
Early review!!!!! Played 2 missions Not completed 1 car mission played 1 day in the dvd shop I'm going to be honest here but bare in mind this is the beginning of the game: -Voice acting- poor apart from the mechanic so far (I have voice acted in indie projects myself) -Hand to hand combat- Poor -Graphics terrible but kind of nostalgic (PS2 era) -Driving horrendous just remove it - DVD covers taken from real movies= a little naughty (Black Hawk Down being on of them- I love that movie though!) What I like: -Level design pretty cool so far -The DVD shop is quite enjoyable -weapon customisation great - Clothing choice good -Music Awesome!! -Gunplay pretty cool! -Takedowns also pretty cool -Weapon on sling - awesome not even GTA 6 has done this from what we have seen This being an early review: You can really see the Devs really have put passion into this and genuinely want us to enjoy it. I normally refund games after 5 mins if I don't like them. However I have always had a soft spot for indie projects. I am overall very glad the team made this. Yes it is rough around the edges and they need to improve on a lot but there is definitely something here. Everybody wants to play as John Wick and yes you might be playing as a Toby Maguire acting mo fo but it's cool. I will continue support this project and hope the devs can work on it further to improve. Looking forward to playing more!! P.S. Devs should think about speaking to the Suit for Hire Dev and collaborating with him as he has nailed the combat hand to hand and shooting. Combine these games together it would be perfect. keep pushing guys!!! Plus guys if you're reading this give it a chance.
this game has so much potential but is way too clunky in almost every aspect . for instance the fist fights in this game are so mediocre , most of the time you will find yourself swinging at the air after a parry or a dodge , just because your not looking directly at the enemy and i mean directly , pin point accuracy . but i can forgive the devs because the gunfights are at the core of the game sooo..... let's talk about them. the gunplay can feel at times inconsistent , but overall i can understand trying to make the shooting more inaccurate , in doing so you will never find yourself standing behind cover tapping heads , you will need to move up to try close the gap for a cqc takedown. the driving on the other hand i'm sorry to say but its a complete mess. the car feels too loose on the road and you can crash without even realizing that you were going 100 kmh , because the fov and the effects dont make it look fast . about the the system the game introduced , all i can say is its too rough , i mean the idea is there but the execution is not . if you want to make real clean money (clean money , the game has 2 types of currencies clean and dirty , the fist is used for dvd , bills and so on . dirty is only used for guns and attachments . bit of a waste ) you need to talk to all customers and i mean ALL CUSTOMERS , to give them suggestions and you have about 5/7 seconds or their patience runs out and they instantly lover your customer support score . the performance for me were ok nothing incredible, played it all on max settings with dlss balanced , but , i could still at times see some frames spikes . after all i cant suggest you busy this game at full price , wait for a discount . this said i still believe the game can make a massive come back . i will hope for the best .
im enjoying the game got supporter edition and cant wait to play more. its in depth with mechanics and gameplay but please just add some better controller support like standardising the controls to what we know and giving us settings options for a contoller. other than that been running the store and trying to make clean money for some better gear really enjoying it so far and the weapon customisation is pretty cool. dont expect to have your hands held though in hand to hand combat. (taking cover is a touch janky and id prefer to sprint with my left analog)
Great game! Creative story, diverse game play, amazing graphics, the only catch is that the player can accidently skip chapters immediately to the end, that is why the steam page says it can be finished in only 2 hours, but it has way more than 2 hours can cover. Totally recommended!
I wanna start this off by saying. I'm enjoying myself with this game still. BUT it could be better and less clunky. Everything just kinda feels off with the movement. Gunplay is satisfying and can be fun when it wants to be, a lot of times it's janky and sluggish reactive wise and some of the control features make no sense. Hand to hand combat is SUPER janky to the point where it's more of a chore then playing. But I know something good is here and I will be keeping the game and continuing to play it because I still enjoy the soul and premise. Here's hoping it gets better.
