Very nice hommage and all, pet project, labor of love, I get it. But, I found this game EXTREMELY hard and frustrating. Unclear what to do, where to go, what's next, why are you doing anything you're doing, which buttons are pressable, all kinds of hidden passages you can barely find, running around for hours looking for a ladder or an open grate or something. 13h in and I'm barely a third through, and that's with looking at a walkthrough at least a dozen times just to figure out where to go, or where's the exit from a room, because it was hidden behind some column or to some skewed side of something I'd never think could be an exit. This is a game by purists for purists. Play at your on peril.
The game itself is fun but the UI is so poorly implemented that you can easily miss dozens of hours of contents without the game ever informing you of this. Most notable is the difficulty system is vague and mislabeled. The default difficulty is "normal", but in actuality is an easy difficulty that outright disables most of the gameplay encounters, increases player damage, and reduces enemy damage and weapon variety. "Black Mesa" difficulty is apparently the standard, yet is labeled above normal and includes more enemy move sets, changes damage calculations, and adds weapons like grenade launchers to enemy soldiers. "Hard" adds additional moves to bosses along with increasing enemy HP and move sets. Unfortunately the game tells none of this to the player at any point and if you're like me, you'll have most of the game spoiled by the time you realize your playthrough was wasted. We should expect more out of game devs
probably the most fun and the most intense time trying to do a game's achievements, talking about the pizza and the hat, everything else was fairly easy, unmatched to any other half life related fanmade content
pepperoni in style/10.
many many thanks to Issa 💙
good remake of a good game
Perfect game
The whole game is very impressive, noting that it was made with a heavily modified old engine. I have to admit that this reimagination of Xen caught me off guard (first time in ages I felt truly amazed in terms of art design). However, I wish the game was better optimized, because the constant frame drops in open areas constantly pulled me out of the immersion.
