Game's terrible. Horrible controls / response / too much drag, weak sound effects. Mario kart is better.
gET THE ♥♥♥♥ OUT MY WAY ♥♥♥♥♥
This is weird one. its like a time machine. At times it gets so close to the original ps1 experience of playing WipEout, it tricks my mind. The way the ship moves, the very impressive set of visual options to emulate that typical psx look, the music, the attention to detail given to the whole graphic design... they all contribute to what must probably be the most nostalgic out-of-this-time game ever made. This experience can be augmented even, with the right mods. The game provides an robust and easy-to-use framework to integrate a large variety of new and altered content into the game Speaking of those mods. There is one crazy person contributing an insane amount of excellent custom tracks of which the quality is more than often barely discernable from the amazing tracks the devs have come up with. Just check the Workshop. It is absolutely nuts!

The best AG racing game on Steam, hands down. More than worthy of the mantle that Psygnosis established with Wipeout back in the 90's and 2000's
Simply the best. Basically “what if wip3out had all of Wipeout HD's modes“, on PC, infinitely-moddable, and runs at my monitor's max refresh rate even on my laptop's puny integrated graphics. “HD” style physics/FOV are there too (2280 mode), and having them side by side really makes me appreciate the older-style (2159) physics that this game uses by default. I modded in a bunch of extra music and a few Wipeout track conversions, but I see no need for the mods that add in Wipeout teams/liveries despite those being the most downloaded. Why replace a fictional team with a different fictional team? Let ballisticNG have its own world even if it's very transparently based on Wipeout's.
Not a game I'm ever going to "complete", not a game I'll ever have the confidence to play online, but my god, what a labour of love. I don't always love the track design - there's a few gimmicks here and there, especially with corners, that outright piss me off at times - and it does have an incredibly high skill ceiling that will take time to master if you really want to get the most out of it, but otherwise I don't know what else you could possibly want in a modern WipeOut clone. The weapons are useful without being game-breaking, there's an insane variety in ship and course types, the OST is just 100% bangers, the graphic design is on point, the race modes are great (I particularly love the Speed (1994)-esque survival mode, I'd love to see a whole game built around that gimmick), and even the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ AI feels well-balanced, a task many racing game devs still can't get right even with AAA publisher backing.
My only complaint is that it forces you to fly some ♥♥♥♥ in certain ones, and doesn't explain the rules to the oddball races.
Earning platinum medals in time trials feels ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ incredible
BallisticNG has sat in my library for years unplayed. I can't believe I've overlooked this gem.
