I have been playing this since release, have played every version of the table top games. i have made it to gold with allies in ranked. currently at a 31 percent win rate with allies so about 1/3 games i win ( i dont play much axis but have a 45 percent win rate with axis). after 5 years, im throwing in the towel on this version. My main complaints are there are a few rules that have been removed (sharing allied transports/carriers, no bidding no tech trees) that fundamentally alter the game. this is important because it is acknowledged that the axis already have an advantage in this game (which is also the only reason that there was an alternate setup included for rank play that slightly balances the game making it a little more even). this is important because there are no scenarios where the axis players would ever need to take advantage of sharing carriers/ transports, and therefore skews the odds even more in the axis advantage. i also find it suspect that "stablilized dice" were added. this is basically beam dog acknowledging that the dice are problematic. when people respond "use the low luck dice and remove the luck aspect", im not sure what the game is going for anymore. that is again, just too fundamental of a change from the table top game. in addition to these issues, the lack of a bidding system makes for a very boring meta. its the same beginning to the game that is so heavily luck dependent that i just cant slog through anymore. Lastly, the defense profiles just about kill in for me compared to the table top version. I understand that having a player pick casualties in real time isnt a viable thing to do in this online version, but again this is too much of a fundamental change from the table top version. 5 years later the game is still crashing too often, there still is no chat feature. This is just the barest of bones version of axis and allies, i think the only reason i stuck around so long was playing with family and friends who cant be in the same space, but the consensus among the group is that the table top is just more enjoyable. One last criticism, the community outside of personal friends and family is honestly pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥. playing a team game with strangers is just the worst idea unless you were somehow all on discord, and even then quite a buit of "A&A holes" Peace out Axis & Allies 1942 Online, its was a 33% enjoyable experience.

Game constantly crashes, odds stacked against you. You'll spend hours building up a play, just to have the game glitch and not allow it, forcing a reload that doesn't solve anything.
I love this game my only wish is that they had options to expand on this gameplay style. They could add larger maps or scenario type gameplay. but don't touch the base game its already good.
Beer and pretzel game. 24 hours to make a move makes it a fun hobby not a commitment.
Impossible to win again computer. Played many different ways I played the board game for years. do not waist your money on this game . Finally almost won one, but low and behold the computer wiped out America and British Navy. We had 2 destroyers, two cruisers and a transport. the computer wiped them out with just one bomber. One bomber. Went in with two bombers the next run to hurt Germany factory computer rolled snake eyes the odds of that 0.027. Horrible game I dont mind losing. like a mentioned played the board game for years I mean for years. I didn't know there was different die setting so I changed it to bias from standard. Than didn't help at all first run with Russia came in to combat with 3 to 1 odds, which is standard combat ratio not a single hit, computer everything they had was successful. Which I had not purchased this game. I have now tried it on each of the die settings still can not win.. The only good thing about this game compared the real board game is is you don't have to set this version up.
I have played every Axis & Allies board game, and enjoyed all of them. This 1942 version with the online screen is a big swing and miss. You can't have the same overview you have in the board game; it is difficult to see the entire arena and examine it between (or even during) a turn. Loading and unloading transports is not straightfoward, and I keep getting "illegal move" indicators from things I routinely did in the board game versions. If you have never played an A&A board game, maybe you will like this. I do not.
The dice are broken in this game when you play ranked games. I fought a naval battle with 5 fighters, 6 subs, 2 destroyers, 1 cruiser, 1 aircraft carrier, and 1 battle ship versus 4 fighters, 1 sub, 3 destroyers, 2 aircraft carriers, and 2 battleships. I used a battle calculator and it didn't even entertain the idea that any aircraft carriers would survive. The result, I retreated with 3 fighters, they still had 2 fighters, 2 battleships, and 2 aircraft carriers. This happens every game. Solid planning, statistical advantage, it doesn't matter. It feels like you get a +1 to each dice handicap, unless you don't need it (in a 5 to one battle, I can hit with everyone). The people that are platinum aren't masterminds, they are just lucky, or figured out some trick to get the dice to consistently roll in their favor. I love Axis and Allies, but this version makes me rage quit on a regular basis.
i dont know why this one is so much worse than the regular board game version but it just is, the dice dont feel like realistic rolls some times and theres also no technology in it
save yourself some time and money and skip this game, very unbalanced in favor of the axis. changes to the original board game are not good. cannot destroy factories to deny them to the enemy. just not a good version of the game
The most rigged dice I have ever seen. Absolute Garbage luck mechanic.
