About
Approximately Up is your best chance to experience spaceflight in whatever you and your crew (singleplayer or co-op multiplayer with up to 4 players) can bolt together! Build epic spaceships or barely flying trashcans — it’s entirely up to you. Control your creation from a first-person view right from the deck of your ship. Complete challenging objectives, hunt achievements, face the dangers of space, and collect new components to expand your current spacecraft — or build hundreds of new ones. One is never enough!
Everything begins with a single piece of frame and grows into a massive, complex ship built from thousands of components. Create automated systems, experiment with different input controllers, sensors, and meters — connect them to whatever you need, and let the magic (or chaos) happen! Once it looks ready (or not), hit launch and see what happens!

Experimental power sources that need to be delivered to a station on another planet — causing unexpected power outages mid-flight? Some strange energy crystal charging up like a ticking time bomb? Or maybe it’s just a massive, ridiculously heavy submarine this time? Can your spaceship handle that?

Is the planet covered in oceans? What’s hiding beneath that thick atmosphere? Can you see the surface through those massive clouds? Everything’s waiting for you to find out! Explore 15 unique planets, each with its own look, feel, and dynamic soundtrack that changes in real time as you explore and make new discoveries!

Who forgot to connect that cable? Who mounted the thruster backward? Who forgot the solar panels? Or the door-opening button? Is the radar working? How about the batteries? Enjoy the hilarious chaos in co-op multiplayer with up to 4 players — and find out once and for all... WHOSE FAULT WAS IT?!

You start on Earth and slowly explore a system of 15 planets, each with its own size, gravity, atmosphere, temperature, and challenges that make every world feel different. Most planets have one or more Planet Stations, which work as checkpoints and garages where you can build ships and start new missions. When you land on a station, it unlocks permanently and becomes a new place you can launch from. To reach these planets, you build your own modular spaceships and experiment with different parts - electric engines, fuel engines, mixed fuels, solar panels, heat-resistant frames, and more. By completing missions like delivering components between planets, you earn new ship parts that let you create better and more advanced designs. All flights are fully first-person from inside your craft, and because distances are huge, your ship design really matters - some trips will take only minutes, while others can turn into long journeys if your ship is weak. The whole game is about exploring planets, upgrading your ships, unlocking new stations, and trying to make it to your destination without crashing.

“Approximately Up”, I never had a ship building game with so many details. Everything is moveable and it includes (like Factorio or Rust) a full logic circuit system. I love it but to be real some of the challenges are very very hard (in good way). Closest thing to aerospace engineering in a visually appealing game. Worth price.
Highly recommended f you want to build and fly your own space ship! The missions are entertaining and challenging (although they do throw you into the deep end fairly quickly). The simulation is very detailed with wind, gravity, and free movement between planet surface and outer space. Build your ship from frame components, landing gear, controls, sensors, and power and logic circuitry. (Or, use one of the community-provided pre-built ships.) Even with all of this detail, it's a lot of fun as a game and has a strong skill component. It never feels like AutoCAD or Excel.

This game is quite fun and clever First I thought that blah, this ship building can't be fun. I want to just explore. I watched a quick tutorial video on youtube how to build basic ship. Ok that's how it works, that ain't hard. And soon I was doing some simple mission with my simple ship. Missions usually come with some new problem that you need to solve (build something more to your ship). -Oh, it's a long way to that planet. My systems are draining battery all the time. But hey, how about a power switch and then I can save my batteries in transit. -Or it is dark or it is windy. Need some good lights and windshield. Then you start to think about if some manual things could be automatic. Like the windshield power supply. Or maybe it would be easier to fly if I had altitude hold. While I'm at it maybe an attitude hold too. You can construct all kind of systems with the math / logic parts. Now I have nice ship with all kind of systems I built. Only problem is that the systems are all over the walls. Maybe I should build them into neat boxes and save them . Then I could just add the to what ever ship I need to build. One big issue is that there is only 3x time acceleration. When you fly to distant planet you wish you had greater time acceleration as there is not much you can do when you wait for the right reverse thrust time.
Pretty nice and give you the giant open space vibe just like KSP, but the game is not so attached with physics so you can go more for exploration/fun than simulation mode.
This game is fun and challenging. It can take a long time to get through it but very worth it. The game could certainly do with better explanation of things, be a little more generous with items, and have a bit more overarching storyline. But considering there is, from what I've read, only one developer, I don't expect it to be perfect. And in light of that, It's a well made game. Works smoothly and the build system is one of the better ones I played with. With all the math logic nodes that you can use, there's a ton of ways you can achieve your goals. Highly recommended.
Just a very good game.
I managed to complete this game entirely solo and overall I enjoyed it quite a bit and it is a good game if you have a little bit of patience. Each mission is like a unique puzzle that you need to design a ship in order to solve, and the ease with which you solve each puzzzle depends on how much time you put into designing your ship and how clever you are with your designs. The biggest time sink in this game is that sometimes you spend 30ish minutes finding an objective or travelling to a new planet just to find out your ship is not designed to handle it, requiring you to go back and try again, although the new fast forward feature helps significantly.
Excellent game, very well designed, there are a lot of odd quality of life issues (no spectate on death / only 90 degree rotation / no mirroring, etc) however those are only mild annoyances against a really great game.
i played the demo for a loooong time but i haven't played a ton of the game so far but it has been fun as heck. runs great. a lil expensive but its worth it
