Can’t wait to play this and give it the sweet, sweet love it deserves. I wanted to play Apotheon so bad in 2014. I’m surprised I never pirated it. The trailer completely captivated me at the time. I love Greek Mythology, and to bring petroglyphs to life via gaming is just genius. It’s a level of artistic creativity I honestly haven’t seen in a while. Apotheon played well on the Steam Deck, but I’d prefer to play it on PC going forward since it's a beautiful game. Moreover, platformers such as Apotheon require you to throw spears, bows, and javelins at enemies from all directions, and a mouse is just more precise.

So far I LOVE this metroidvania. The art style is delightful, and as a history nerd I love this very authentic take on Greek mythology. There are even stones with Homeric Hymns scattered around where you can read more about the various gods and monsters.
An awesome story of the Greek pantheon and the world they inhabited, I originally got this game in 2015 because Jerma985 was a voice actor in the game but the game is super fun and beautiful artistically, with great voice acting and super fun metroidvania style platforming and combat. I recommend this game to anyone who likes metroidvania-lite games, mythology, or Jerma because he's in there too for a little bit.
unique and epic

古希腊陶罐画风的游戏,还不错!
Look, I know why I'm here. You know why you're here. So, I'll answer the question: "Can I stand playing this for two hours, so I can get that Steam wallpaper with them tig ol' bitties?" Sure you can, champ! It's not that bad, and the first two hours is basically a dead easy combat tutorial and a bunch of aimless wandering through samey environments. Despite the speed with which enemies close distance with you, the combat is the wind-up-and-pitch style of a much more deliberate game. The weapons hit hard, though, so you won't have much trouble mopping the tutorial section. You will spend most of your time chasing down the dude you just ragdolled two screens away with a battle axe just to nick off the remaining 10% of his health bar. The art style is pleasant, resembling paintings on ancient Aegean pottery, but it has little environmental detail and a lot of repetition, making navigation a chore. All of this is endurable if you keep your eye on the prize.
Apotheon is a metroid-vania with a really unique greek pottery art style. The great part is that even when the gameplay can sometimes be hit and miss, the core loop is enjoyable enough. Lots of secets and weapons to unlock. Great soundtrack and the voice acting is all right as well. Not the best game ever, but it was a good time. I would love to see ancient Rome, Egypt and other empires to be shown in a style like this. I'd recommend it even more if not for the crashes. My biggest problems were loading screen crashes, sometimes super frequent, other times I played for 1,5-2 hours without problems. The loading times are super fast and it's easy to relaunch the game so it's not the end of the world. Still it's an 8.5/10, great fun!
Excellent art style, very satisfying combat, very unique game.
