Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 4.29/day in the week to Aug 10 → 8.43/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I don't consider this game bad, not at all. I am sure there are people who can have a lot of fun with it, and in the beginning I did too. However, especially towards the end I found it significantly too tidious and I found myself only playing for the completion, not the fun. The big issues with Animal Well, for me, are that it doesn't unlock enough shortcuts after solving a puzzle or an area. It doesn't unlock *no* shortcuts, but it doesn't unlock enough. For a lot of rooms, in order to traverse them, you have to do their puzzle again and again every time you want to go through. add to that that a lot of puzzles consist of instantly killing you and respawning you at the last checkpoint, or that you have to jump from small plattform to small platform, sometimes even small moving plattforms on anohter screen, with a fall bringing you several rooms back. Those really make the end game or post game excrutiatingly annyoing. Some puzzles essentially require you to go through every single room of the map to search for specific details in the background, and that would be a cool puzzle, but when traversal is such a slugfest, it really just isn't enjoyable. Essentially I'd say the main game is fun and was really cute. The atmosphere is astonishing. But the post game is painful and leaving a game like this uncompleted also feels awful.

The best game and gaming experience I have ever had. This game respects your intelligence and free-will. Do not look anything up, go in as blind as possible. Everything outside the community ARGs are completely doable on your own.
This games does puzzles reall well - albiet, some last little ones are near impossible to find yourself but I guess they're not really supposed to be. With that said, very addicting and rewarding puzzle game overall.
Gorgeous game that just isn't fun to play. Starts off tedious, gets good for a little bit after you get a couple items, then gets REALLY tedious. Moving through the map just feels like work with no payoff. If you ignore the glowing shiny bits the actual design of the world, the platforming and the "puzzles" are pretty dull. There were a couple fun moments near the start and then it got pretty uninspired. Which is unfortunate, because there's no combat to carry the game past those shortcomings, at least so far. You can distract the animals or you can run away, and they'll either pose essentially no threat at all or be nearly unavoidable but serve no purpose other than to slow you down for a second. Hit 3-4 switches to open the door. Hit 3-4 switches to open the door but a non-threatening thing is chasing you. Hit 3-4 switches to open the door but you have to turn a crank in between some of them. Hit 3-4 switches to open the door but there's a simple path between them that you can figure out by trial and error. Hit 3-4 switches but now there are TWO cranks! Etc etc. It's generally pretty obvious where to go from the open spaces in walls on the map. And every metroidvania is going to have backtracking, but this backtracking is exceptionally slow and painful. I know it's only been 7 hours and I'm probably missing a lot, but I'm not convinced that it's worth putting in the work required to see if there's anything good later on.
I truly believe this game wouldn't be this popular if Dunkey didn't advertise for it for two decades before it's release. People are either convincing themselves that it's good or it's a joke that everyone agreed on. The puzzles are straightforward or there are hidden paths involved. the real puzzle is figuring out what your items are capable of, like the bubble wand infinite jumps or the ability to ride the frisbee or hit switches with it. Fez or Tunic are similar games that did everything much better.
favorite puzzle game i've ever played, with a unique and beautiful art style. encourages you to explore everything 100x over. found myself literally writing stuff down on paper to keep track of clues across the map. 10000/10
