Playing this game right after the original in 2013 certainly contributed to a negative first impression, but even beyond that, even understanding that this is rather a linear "walking simulator" centered on telling a story... what do you do when you don't care about the story? Those twin kids of the protagonist especially, too creepy for me to share his worries for them. The engine also clearly struggled (I suppose it's not an issue anymore nowadays), and the simplifications are such that not even sanity effects are present. It has some moments, primarily in its industrial horror setting, those gigantic machines always working and so big their shapes are lost in darkness, but it overall came and went without leaving any special memory like the predecessor. Not for me, but I won't fault Frictional and The Chinese Room for having tried.

É definitivamente um jogo inferior ao seu antecessor, The Dark Descent, em termos de gameplay: muitas das mecânicas que tornavam esse jogo especial não se encontram neste lançamento. Porém, a estética, ambiente e (principalmente) trilha sonora são, aos meus olhos, dos melhores que há no mundo jogos de terror. No geral, diria que é um jogo "mais ou menos", mais para "mais" do que para "menos". É relativamente curto e bastante barato, portanto não há muito a perder.

Напевне найкраща гра в серії в сюжетній складовій, та й загалом можна цю гру вважати одну з найкращих. Дуже сильний, та глибокий сюжет, історія справді вразила, також атмосфера, яка доповнюється шикарним музичним супроводом, що тільки ще більше погружає в історію. З мінусів застаріла графіка, проте це повністю перекривається іншими сторонами. Однозначно рекомендую для проходження
A true underrated gem, whilst it doesn't reach the highs of The Dark Descent, it still is a great game in its own right. The story is actually really good, it has the dark story you expect from the Amnesia games along with a morally conflicting protagonist. It has a nice haunting horror atmosphere, there are no jump scares, everything is built up on tension, background noise and hallucinations. The only downside I found to the game is its buginess, it would often crash when loading into a new chapter, most of the time the game would autosave just before it crashed though.
