From the creators of Amnesia: The Dark Descent and Dear Esther comes a new first-person horrorgame that will drag you to the depths of greed, power and madness. It will bury its snout into your ribs and it will eat your heart.

Dio Porco
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

A step down from The Dark Descent, but still enjoyable A Machine for Pigs strips away a lot of the complexity that made TDD, But that doesn't make it a bad game necessarily. Much shorter and less complex, it focuses on the most compelling parts of the Amnesia franchise: storytelling and atmosphere. I loved the steampunk environment as you go through machinery beyond your understanding. I felt grossed out by the invasive tunnels and secret rooms that were a part of the buildings. I found myself engrossed in the prose and nuance in the voice actors' lines. The insanity of the game was there and I was satisfied. Try it if you would enjoy those same things.
I will say that the narrative and story were stronger than in The Dark Descent, especially the last section of the game was heavy and really sad. It's really atmospheric and the story is strong but the gameplay is worse than in Dark Descent. A Machine for Pigs is more linear, doesn't have the sanity mechanic from The Dark Descent, and our lamp has infinite power. It's not a scary game (in a sense that you won't really have many scary encounters or jumpscares) but some of the themes and notes in this game are eerie. I think it's an interesting game to play.
This is what happens when you task essentially the inventors of walking simulator - one of the worst things to happen to video games - with making a sequel to one of the best and most influential horror games ever made. It's very short (taking my time, I finished it two times and it took less than five hours combined), there's barely any gameplay, and if a few Shakespearean dialogues and "deep" notes to read don't sound as exciting as solving interesting puzzles while evading monsters using the environment and physics like in the original Amnesia, then skip this pretentious piece of media, move straight to Amnesia: The Bunker, and don't look back. And if you want to see another sequel the Chinese Room has butchered, check out Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2.
