American Arcadia

Great game! This one was a bit different than my usual games but I liked some of the developers other games, so I decided to try it out. I immediately fell in love with the characters and the plot, especially the twist at the end which was unfortunately a little too close to reality. The first person sections were not my favorite but they did have some really good puzzles, so I had a great time.

Very good narrative game with a more realistic take on truman's show plot. I particularly liked the ending, especially how the choice behind it was framed (use of the song was brilliant). Although gameplay itself isn't strong suit of this game, the story and the characters both very much make up for it and puzzle-platforming still fun enough.

Incredible game with a unique art style that demanded you discover every detail. The story had its fun twists and turns that honestly could be mistaken for something that would be on TV today. A couple cringe moments during the Angela sequences (you'll know) but certainly not anything to take away from the overall experience. Just be sure to set the texture graphics to epic so you can actually read the signs and such. Otherwise they will all appear blurry. Lastly, getting all the achievements adds more to the story so that is a much appreciated touch from the devs. Don't be a fool and enjoy this game!

영화 트루먼쇼를 모티브로 삼은 배경설정 속에서, 감시카메라를 통해 탈출을 돕는다는 이야기를 2D 점프플랫폼과 일인칭 3D 어드벤처를 번갈아가며 플레이하는 걸로 보여주는 독특한 구조의 게임입니다. 도망치기 위해 정신없이 뛰어다니는 점프플랫폼 부분도, 탐색하고 여러 퍼즐을 풀어가는 일인칭어드벤처 부분도 양쪽 다 재밌게 즐겼습니다. 점프플랫폼 파트는 액션 조작은 도리어 상당히 쉬운 편인데, 대신 협력자의 해킹지원을 동시에 조작하며 타이밍을 맞추는 플레이가 요구됩니다. 조작캐릭터만 주목할 수는 없게 만드는 게 처음엔 좀 답답했지만, 익숙해지니 눈과 손이 제법 바빠지는 게 나름의 재미가 있네요. 다만 중간중간 뭘 어쩌라는 건가 싶은, 일단 처음 봤으면 실패하고 보라는 식의 구성이 잊을 만하면 한 번씩 나오는 점은 조금 불만이었습니다. 액션 부분이 난이도가 너무 낮다고 이런 함정으로 자극을 주려는 건가 싶었네요. 일인칭 파트는 돌아다니며 탐색하고 퍼즐을 풀어 이야기를 진행해 가는 게 상당히 재밌었구요. 생각도 못한 플레이를 시키는 경우가 여럿 있어 상당히 참신하다 느꼈습니다. 퍼즐도 적당한 난이도에 힌트도 주어져 궁리하는 재미가 있었구요. 진상을 밝혀가는 게 주로 일인칭 파트다 보니 이야기를 알아가는 재미도 좋았습니다. 다만 이쪽도 뭘 시키려는 걸까 싶은 구간이 한 번씩 나오네요. 대부분의 플레이는 힌트를 잘 주는 편인데, 몇몇 구간만 이상하게 불친절하다 느꼈습니다. 스토리는 유명한 영화의 구조를 많이 차용해 왔기에 처음엔 영화에서 느꼈던 그 맛이 그대로 나는 적당히 흥미를 끄는 정도였는데, 중반부터 여러 변주가 추가돼서 후반은 상당히 흥미진진했습니다. 이미 널리 알려진 스토리가 있다 보니 변주를 좀 과감하게 주네요. 두 주인공을 오가며 각각 다른 방식의 게임플레이를 즐기면서 이야기를 보는 재미가 좋은 게임이었습니다.
