Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Charts
Each storefront's own chart, in its own country — the closest public signal to sales where none is published. A country missing from a list is one we don't collect there, not one where the game doesn't chart.
No United States chart position — it charts only in the markets below.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 10.43/day in the week to Aug 23 → 14.29/day in the week after.
Too few observations to say whether a discount moves this store's chart at all: across the last 30 days Steam · Top Sellers · Poland has just 18 day-to-day chart moves that followed a price cut, against 2,498 that did not. We are publishing the count instead of a direction — 20 is the fewest we will draw a conclusion from, and price collection outside the United States began on 6 August 2026.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About
You are the Viceroy – a leader charged by the Scorched Queen to reclaim the wilderness and discover lost riches for the Smoldering City, civilization's last bastion against the Blightstorm that destroyed the old world. Unlike most survival city builders where your focus is on a single city, in Against the Storm you must build a vast, prosperous network of settlements populated by diverse fantasy races, each with their own specializations and needs.
The wilderness holds many hidden dangers, and never-ending storms will batter your population into submission. If your settlements should fall, then the expedition may end – but not the game. Against the Storm is a roguelite city builder, meaning you will carry forward the resources, upgrades, and experience of your past expeditions each time you set off for a new journey into the wild.

Foxes, beavers, and lizards stand alongside humans and harpies in the struggle to survive. Utilize each group's strengths as you balance their varying needs, from housing and culinary preferences to taste in luxuries and recreation. Will you manufacture raincoats, brew ale, and bake pies to boost morale in the face of the oppressive hostility of the forest, or will you prioritize the needs of one species over another to operate more swiftly for the Scorched Queen?

Experience core city builder gameplay enhanced by roguelite replayability. Build and manage multiple settlements spread out across a large world map, all while collecting valuable meta-progression resources to upgrade the Smoldering City. Feel the pressure of an expectant monarch as the Scorched Queen demands constant progress while recurring Blightstorms pose an inevitable threat to your settlements. Manage your reputation to secure your success at any one settlement before moving on to establish another, constantly seeking new opportunities for growth, taking on unique challenges across multiple biomes, and bracing for the inevitable destruction of everything but the Smoldering City itself. How will you maximize each cycle to not just ensure the best fate for the Smoldering City, but for your career as Viceroy as well?

With hundreds of gameplay modifiers and 6 distinct biomes, every city location presents unique challenges for even the most resourceful Viceroy. Adjust your strategy to changing weather conditions and experiment with rosters of building blueprints and perks that can help your society thrive or bring it to ruin. Will you take on and complete additional objectives and delve deeper into the dangerous forest for potential boons, or will you approach with caution to ensure you operate within your capabilities? All the while, you never know what wares the Trader will bring next year, and the forest holds treasures and resources, but also ancient threats.

Laying the foundations for a new city is one of the most exciting moments in a city-building game. In Against the Storm, you'll have the opportunity to repeatedly experience this by creating new settlements, while still interacting with your network of previously established cities in a growing world.

Komisches Spiel.
City builder + rogue-like, stylised handpainted 3D models. As an occasional City builder player, this unexpected combination birthed an engaging gameplay loop and world that got me hooked. On top of a really nice UI and UX, it feels easy to pick up and hard to master with plenty of complexity to sink into.

City builder + roguelite = fun
best strategy
I hadn't played many city builders prior to getting this game, but I did try out more of them after. This game tops them all. Even if you don't think you like the genre, I highly suggest giving it a try.
It took me a while to get around to reviewing this game, but as my >700 hours shows I can attest that it's a great game. This is a city builder with rougelike elements. You don't spend all your time building one city: instead you try to 'complete' settlements and then move on to the next one. There's incentive to winning as fast as possible because the campaign cycle has a limit to the number of in-game years that can pass. Speaking of winning quickly, this game has strong optimization elements. Essentially you start with a small, primitive economy and gradually make it bigger and more advanced. You need to allocate your limited population appropriately, because overproduction of one resource is usually not as valuable as diversifying your economy. This aspect of the game is what makes playing it fun. Some other positive aspects I like are the seasons cycle, where each in-game year culminates in an epic Storm season where you need to be well prepared in order to lose population, and the soundtrack, which not coincidently has great Storm season music (and is great overall!) There's a few mechanics that I disliked that I'll mention briefly. First is how powerful Embarkation goods (basically bonus resources you start with) and the Trader (lets you trade resources at weak exchange rate) are. Both can be utilized to essentially jumpstart your economy from primitive to advanced very quickly. It feels very artificial, like you skipped some important steps of the game. Another aspect I was confused by was Impatience. This is a gauge that if it fills up you lose the game. So it should be a negative, but for some reason it reduces Hostility, which is a mechanic that basically makes your population less happy. So I often found myself raising Impatience on purpose: there's absolutely no penalty to doing this as long as it doesn't reach maximum, only reward. Overall it's an addicting optimization city builder that can be played in bite-sized chunks because you constantly make new settlements. I liked this aspect more than city builders where you spend all your time building one city: I usually forget where I left off when I play those games. If you like optimization games then I think the gameplay loop of AtS will really satisfy. Fantastic game.
Man, this game is really really good. I only played the base version, no DLC, but damn man.. I loved it. I had a timer set for my two hour refund window and blew past it by like 6 hours.
I've now tried to get into this game twice. I don't have a lot of time, but wanted to give this game a try as it looks genuinely fun given the type sof games I like. However, the game is information overload. In the first tutorial, it doesn't even tell me what I'm shooting for. I'm told I have 3 random races, no backstory as to why that is or why it matters, and told to build I think a farm, and then make ale? Rejecting that premise, I go and try to figure out what it is that I'm acutally supposed to be doing in the game, sifting through 10s of encylcopedia entries I finall find the win condition one, and it tells me I need to gain reputation points faster than some queen's impatience grows? Okay. Well, that's great, but what the hell is a reputation point, how do I earn it, what or who is the Queen and how does she get impatience, and moreover, why should I care?! This game seems like it's got a really good shot at being good, but it fails out of the gate for throwing too much technical details of the game without telling you WHY YOU SHOULD CARE. I'll check back in about a year and see if things improve, but this game absolutely fails in the world building IMO, and its insanely hard to invest the hours of time it seems to need to explain the basics to you, if you can't CARE for anything happening in the world.
