this game is so bad in many many ways... and it was supposed to be a "Halo killer" xDD
An old game that could have been a gem but is too janky to succeed. The story isn't unique but decent enough and the best part of the game for me. It's full of cinematics which will either please or annoy however. I enjoyed them personally. On the gameplay front, the fighting is rather average with enemies that you are best avoiding mostly, if you don't want to run out of ammo when you most need it. The worst parts are the driving sections. Clearly done a long time ago when moving the camera to look around you wasn't a thing but even when you get used to it, it is awful. I even encountered a game breaking bug where the car wouldn't respawn at a checkpoint and the car was mandatory to progress. It could have been an oldie but goldie, but it's just a poor relic of the past that's best ignored.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
All-time low is the lowest price we've recorded for this game since we started tracking it.

BU OYUNUN HİKAYESİ VE MÜZİKLERİ HALA DAHA ÇOĞU OYUNDA YOK
Advent Rising is a game I remember coming out right when the big titles like Halo Combat Evolved and Mass Effect were taking the gaming world by storm. Sadly the game was overshadowed by the other two titles and was left to collect dust - never to be taken back up by any other gaming company and continued as the in-game story was left to have a continuing trilogy. From my experience of playing the game back when it was new and now when it is a beloved classic and a blast from my gaming past, it is one I would recommend fellow gamers to try at least once for the story alone. The gameplay of Advent Rising is... unique. The developers seemed to enjoy the act of endlessly locking on to your enemies no matter where you looked. So long as they were close and in your field of view or actively near you, every light nudge of the camera would send you locking onto a target you didn't intend to target in the first place. This also goes for items that can be picked up via powers and thrown at enemies. This can cause issues for gamers, especially of today, as it heavily restricts how one intends to play and can make combat seem difficult if not frustrating to do. If the lock-on function wasn't so strong, I think the gameplay could be enjoyable for a game made in its respected time. As for the storyline of the game, its one I enjoyed. It touched on an idea that I thought would be very interesting to pursue but I will not say anything more here for I would hate to give away spoilers. What I will say is that it is a concept I would have liked to have seen further explored if the game was given a chance to blossom but as it stands, that will never be and the storyline will remain unknown.
It's definitely a cult classic. It has it's moments, you get options, but the story is formulaic, the programming is iffy, and it's unstable on modern hardware. Definetly read the steam community guide on troubleshooting issues. Despite all those issues, it was still enjoyable. I think the early-mid game was the best, as the limited options better defined the flow of combat. Towards the end you are, both narratively and mechanically, a demigod. You can play in first person or third (though maneuvers are limited in first), as a cover shooter or movement shooter, as a sci-fi wizard or Jason Bourne. Those options are all there and executed competently enough to be enjoyable. But the jank is also there and must be worked around. Whether it's finicky elevators or game crashes or poorly telegraphed solutions, you can't expect a smooth ride from start to finish. It's a classic "jank but fun old game". Not one I can recommend to anyone, but still one I can recommend to some people -- with caveats.
It's really good. A bit frustrating at first due to a weird and outdated combat control scheme. But the characters and plot are so likeable you can put up with it. Would definitely recommend having a good mouse wheel to save your sanity, because you have to use it to scroll through items and targets.
