Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I wanna be more positive, because I really did love Shogun 2... ...but the AI pathfinding in forts in FOTS is just broken, to the point where sieges are never fun. Storming forts isn't fun because between 1/3 to 2/3 of the AI defenders will just be stuck in place, even ignoring you positioning units right behind them shooting them in the back, and defensive sieges aren't fun because you'll experience your units utterly failing to reposition in a sensible manner at all. It's a bit astonishing how a DLC breaks a core game mechanic this badly. It's not "dealbreaker" bad, but it's considerably worse than it ought to have been. Edit: Actually, this is a dealbreaker. I'm now regularly encountering defensive siege battles in which literally every single one of my units wind up freezing in place after a few minutes. I'm not running the game with a single mod. Additionally, the AI is so obsessed with the shore bombardment feature and landing troops in the very rear of the map that a good 90% of what I do every turn is chasing off armies landing in my starting provinces and sinking ships blowing everything along the shore to pieces. The allied AI clans don't seem the least bothered to intercept the enemy fleets passing by, nor do they seem inclined to advance on the shore towards any of the campaign objectives. FOTS is bugged trash.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 8: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

guns feel way better in this game compared to napoleon or empire, and cannons are awesome
Greed
Possibly the strongest DLC in total war, ever.
If shogun 2 and napoleon had the best baby ever
This overhyped piece of crap is full of hidden mechanics which make the campaign painful and unlogical. Allies and vassals will flip over to the other side and backstab you if you leave borders with them unprotected. What the hell is the purpose of having allies? How am I supposed to upgrade my provinces if I have to keep border armies everywhere? Fall of the Samurai is an overrated piece of crap thanks to ♥♥♥♥♥♥ youtubers praising the game. I loved Shogun 2 due to its strategic depth and tactical sharpness, but FOTS makes no logical sense.
the tech tree is a lot mor efun than the empire one though the map is drab at fist you might want to change your settings the battle are great and lots of other fun twists
i love shooting farmers with gatling guns, armstrongs and american missionaries! :3
I somehow got this bundled with Shogun 2 on a sale for a pretty low price; keep that in mind when comparing my review to others. That said, I absolutely adore Fall of the Samurai. I had never gotten into Shogun 2 in the past; I'd just bounce off it. When I learned FOTS had gatling guns and naval bombardment, though, I had to try it. This expansion/saga is absolutely incredible. It builds well off the great base of Shogun 2, which I now view as the best Total War game hands down. It feels to me almost like an entirely new TW game given the stark contrast to every single other entry in the series. So many unique features are packed in while trimming fat and making sure the experience isn't overwhelming. My only real gripe is the lack of unit variety across clans. Most unique units are just reskins. I can get past this easily since it makes historical sense. This was a period where military standardization was on the rise. There's less difference between the line infantry raised by Yodo and Tosa than the longbowmen of England and the crossbowmen of Genoa. Truly great.
Even while being over a decade old, this is still one of the best, if not the very best, total war game ever made. I wish that creative assembly would return to making more games like this.
