About
The Peabody Award winning 1000xRESIST is a thrilling sci-fi adventure. 1000 years in the future, humanity is all but extinguished and a disease spread by an alien occupation keeps the survivors underground. You are Watcher. You dutifully fulfil your purpose in service of the ALLMOTHER, until the day you learn a shocking secret that changes everything.

In the near future we learn we are not alone in the universe. A mysterious alien race of giant entities arrives. We call them the Occupants.
They are not hostile, but it doesn’t matter. Their arrival is a death sentence. Humanity is wiped out in a matter of months, succumbing to a disease the Occupants have brought to our planet.
There is one survivor, a teenage girl called Iris. Somehow she is immune.

1000 years later. Iris is not only immune but immortal. She has birthed a new society consisting exclusively of her own clones.
She calls them Sisters. They call her the ALLMOTHER.
Unlike the ALLMOTHER, the sisters are not immune. They must wear masks 24/7 to avoid breathing the diseased air even in the Orchard - an underground bunker where they live in constant fear of an Occupant attack.
The ALLMOTHER lives in her own compound on the front line of the war with the Occupants. All Sisters dream of one day being able to take the train and join her in the fight.

Within the Orchard, every sister has an assigned function, while six sisters have special roles to play…
Principal - Head of administration and oversight of the Orchard
Bang Bang Fire - Head of military
Knower - Head of knowledge preservation
Fixer - Head of engineering
Healer - Head of medical and cloning
And you - the new Watcher.
Your role is unique. You have the great privilege of reliving and interpreting the memories of the ALLMOTHER through a process known as Communion, made possible by Secretary, your floating AI companion.
As the game begins, you are excited to embark on your first Communion.
But all is not well.
Your closest sister, Fixer, comes to you with a dangerous revelation. You have been lied to. The ALLMOTHER is not what she claims to be.
Fixer’s claims rock the foundations of your world, throwing everything you know and believe into doubt.
After Fixer is executed for her treason, it falls to you to discover the truth.

Dive into the memories of the ALLMOTHER.
Explore pivotal moments in her life from high school days and the arrival of the Occupants to the creation of the Orchard and the birth of the first sisters.
Jump back and forth through moments in time within these memories to solve puzzles and access locked off areas and secrets.
In between Communions, explore the Orchard - a large underground hub area which houses you and your sisters, has many characters to speak to, and holds many things to uncover.
Find the truth and reclaim your legacy.

Experience perspective shifts both literal and metaphorical as the game blends between 3rd person adventure, visual novel and first person walking simulator while throwing twists, turns and revelations at you until you question everything you think you know.
Born from an eclectic set of inspirations, including the games of Yoko Taro (NieR:Automata), the anime of Satoshi Kon (Perfect Blue) and Naoko Yamada (A Silent Voice), and even the theatre of Robert Wilson (Einstein on the Beach), 1000xRESIST tells a story in ways only a game can while simultaneously bringing fresh ideas to interactive storytelling from theatre, dance, performance art, and cinema.

Enjoy more than 10 hours of playtime brought to life with over 15,000 lines of fully voiced dialogue from a brilliant cast of Asian-Canadian actors and an incredible soundtrack from two composers.

1000xRESIST is created by sunset visitor 斜陽過客, an independent studio based in Vancouver (Canada) dedicated to telling diverse stories through the lens of speculative fiction. We are a group of majority Asian-Canadian diaspora creators with a decade of experience in dance, theatre, music, film, visual arts, and new media arts, bringing our background in the experimental performing arts to interactive media.

Reviews
One thing should be said upfront: 1000xRESIST does not explain itself when explanation would be convenient. It gives you grief, ritual, political theatre, family memory, and floating geometry, then trusts—or forces—you to assemble the world from fragments. 1000xRESIST is a story about memory, migration, inherited trauma, authoritarian mythmaking, and people repeatedly mistaking control for salvation. It is also deeply confusing, occasionally infuriating, and far too fond of making basic navigation feel like an archaeological dispute. It gives emotional understanding long before factual understanding. Iris is both victim and architect of enormous harm. Watcher is manipulated, condemned, preserved, and continually treated as a symbol instead of a person. Principal, ALLMOTHER, and the later factions all reproduce control while claiming necessity. The clone society gradually moves from roles toward names and personhood. The protagonist switch and Old Town section disrupt momentum. The fragmented chronology is thematically brilliant but sometimes mechanically obnoxious. The ending offers a cautious future beyond Iris’s mythology.

14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 28: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Amazing story. The characters are all so human. No one is truly evil; just flawed characters who were a product of their environment. The non-linear story telling is also very well executed.

A beautifully made game with a fascinating story and profound themes of loss, the cost of resistance, cultural assimilation, and memory. Whole-heartedly recommend it to anyone that has the 10-15 hours to spare.
This is a case where the game is so brilliant that I struggle to find the right words. I’d say just go and play it, but that’s not how reviews work, so I’ll try my best. 1000xRESIST has the best narrative I’ve ever seen in a game. And I love story-focused games, I play lots of them. It’s in no way a perfect GAME – animations can be janky, the hub is frustratingly confusing at times, but it didn’t matter because the idea and message are so powerful. I’d say the game is mostly about generational trauma, the weight of memories, forms and cost of resistance in an authoritarian society, violent nature of human language, and mothers and daughters. And then mothers and daughters again and daughters of those daughters and daughters of daughters, and it cycles infinitely. There are a lot of other themes, this game has many layers. It’s impossible to name all of them, but you get the idea. The way they are presented is very artistic, even theatrical. You get to see separate scenes, sometimes they’re chronologically connected, sometimes they belong to a different timeline. And then you do a bit of detective job, putting it together, trying to get the full picture. At the end, it still looks blurry and ambiguous. I loved and hated it at the same time because, of course I wanna know everything, but I also respect the trust in players to interpret things on their own. What else? The game has really cool visual moments I enjoyed, and there’s a particular language puzzle that made me stare at the screen in disbelief and awe. I’m so excited for the future of gaming, seeing such wonderful pieces of interactive media exist.
You aim your character at a glowing ring and press a button. That's the extent of the gameplay in 1000xRESIST, and honestly it would probably be better off without it. I can forgive it for that, because everything else about it is a masterpiece. Its premise goes like this: extraterrestrial beings come to earth, a virus threatens to wipe out humanity, and somehow the only immune survivor is a high school girl who immediately comes off as a horrible person. The game takes that starting plot and runs with it far beyond what anyone would consider reasonable, turning its own beginning into myth, then letting the myth become half-remembered until it's something else entirely. Along the way it gets into some heavy topics (lasting effects of intergenerational trauma, importance of resistance, whether learning more about someone makes them any easier to forgive, and much more). You will 1000% find a theme in the story that touches on something important to you, and the game will do it with genuine heart, humor and absolute relentlessness. Characters frequently do terrible things to each other, redeem themselves, then do some more terrible things, and you'll understand the why of it every single time. "The us is a weave that can be unpicked," as they say. It's stylish as all hell, too. The environments and the cutscene are gorgeous at times. The only real flaw is the late-game pacing. After seven excellent chapters of tight, narrative momentum, the game makes you spend the rest of it running back and forth on a train, up and down escalators, and fiddling with light switches. Still, absolutely play this if you enjoy a phenomenal story (or have a weird fondness of getting lost inside labyrinthine structures). It's one of the best ones you'll find on Steam.

I am just glad that I am alive. Its art like this that keeps me going
man that "good girl" made me cry so hard. this game is a masterfully told story that rearranges moments so the punches hit the hardest. it's not particularly challenging or difficult to understand as a video and a story respectively, and some would say that it'd serve better as a book, but i appreciate the care that went into designing the time-travel sequences for pacing the "puzzle" sequences especially in the very beginning. i wish it was used more often, but as it stands it might've ruined the fairly tight pacing the story has after the setup. no complaints about the performance even on linux and has good dualsense haptics support (turn off steam input).
