Great art, puzzles are ok. Camera is very shaky for me, options don't work, achievements don't work, jumping sound is annoying, rewind is not smooth, some bugs too.
The game has a bug that makes it almost impossible to finish the game. The controls and view angle can make some platforming sections harder than they need to be. Many puzzle games will have cut scenes or some way to acknowledge what has happened off screen that are missing here, but it made the puzzles more challenging, so maybe that was by design. The art is fun, imaginative, and often fun to pause and feel immersed in. The puzzles are challenging. The game breaking bug seems like it would have been pretty easy to mitigate if not fix entirely, maybe the red liquid could rise more slowly, added some cut scenes that reset things properly, take the time shifting out of that level? When I have to completely exit the game and restart the level to get the bug to stop... it just seems like they abandoned the project and don't care about their players but are happy to keep taking people's money. There is a review from 3 years ago describing the same bug. I loved Frame of Mind but I can't imagine ever releasing a game like this and not fixing such a major issue after years let alone releasing it while basically unplayable.

Interesting game, looks great. https://youtu.be/HU01o2K6ToQ

Fun little puzzle platformer. Looks nice, fun time gimmick. The movement feels a little janky at times, and the camera is kind of bad to control (I would turn the sensitivity way up) but it's great for the price! Could use some more visuals at times, like with the rewinds
It's very short, but enjoyable if you can look past the short comings of a three person passion project. The art and music are really wonderful. The game is a relatively standard puzzle platformer. It's effectively a demo of what the studio is capable of. Perhaps this will be a jumping off point for a more substantial project?
This is really a shame. The visuals are interesting, game mechanics are interesting, the implementation is horrible... - camera is buggy, often stuck in weird places behind textures - the constant screen shake/jitter when moving is nausea inducing and I bet was not a deliberate feature - no settings can be saved - resolution cannot be changed, mouse sensitivity, etc. - there's no volume settings at all - nitpick bug: Continue button in main menu is visible, even though there's no game to continue yet. When you click it the game is stuck in black screen with no way out, but alt+f4.

Zeitgeist is a really interesting little adventure game because the first thing that caught my attention was the setting. I am exploring an ancient city that was once submerged but is now sitting in the middle of a desert, looking for the Heart of the City. Water is almost gone from the world I am coming from, so there is a pretty clear reason for going after it. I also have a little pot plant companion with me, which is such a strange detail that it gives the game a lot of its charm. The main mechanic is being able to switch between the past and present versions of the city. This is where most of the puzzles come from, and I liked the idea behind it quite a bit. Something that blocks my path in one version of the city can be different in the other, so I have to look at the environment and work out how the two versions connect. There are also switches and ancient mechanisms to figure out, along with the usual jumping and platforming. The atmosphere is probably the strongest thing about the game for me. The city has a colourful and slightly dreamy look, and there is something nice about exploring the old halls while seeing how different they are between the two time periods. It feels like the game wants me to slow down and actually look at the surroundings rather than just rush from one objective to another. The mystery surrounding the city also gives me enough of a reason to keep going and find out what is really happening. Where it starts to lose me is the actual feel of moving around. The platforming can be awkward, and the camera is not always as helpful as I would like it to be. Some of the puzzles are good ideas, but there are moments where I am not completely sure what a switch has changed or what the game expects me to do next. I think the core ideas are much better than the execution in some places, which is a shame because there is clearly a lot of potential here. The game is also quite short, and I think that works both for it and against it. I never felt like the puzzles were being stretched out for no reason, but I also finished wishing there had been more to explore. I would have liked more time with the time switching mechanic and more complicated puzzles that really tested what I had learned. There are 12 achievements too, which gives me a few extra things to look for, although the main reason I would come back would be to experience the world again rather than chase every achievement. Overall, I think Zeitgeist is a creative free adventure that has some genuinely good ideas behind it. The time switching mechanic is interesting, the setting has a lot of personality and the little plant companion is a nice touch. The rough movement, camera and occasional lack of feedback make it harder to fully enjoy the puzzles, and the short length means the game ends before its best ideas are pushed as far as they could be. Even with that, I think there is enough here to make the experience worthwhile. It feels like a small game with ambition, and I would rather play something like this than another completely generic platformer. Rating: 7.7/10
