Very worth its price. It is no easy game to get into or understand the scale you can operate this game on. You don't need to play a way you don't want to. You want a personal story with one ship or a small fleet. You do you. You can pirate, trade, mine become a mission runner no problem. You want to scale up have fleets with capital ships in different sectors. Become a Tycoon with own factories floating in space. No problem. You want combine both playstyles? Also, no problem, you can switch back and forth thanks to automation and Station managers. You want a factory but don't want to mine, also no problem just buy stuff or outsource the mining to your station manager. You decide, every choice have pros and cons. If you don't control direct it will probably not be as efficient as if you do it on your own. But if you are let’s say a terrible trader the AI will do it better. Never on the level of a veteran player but always better then a new player with no experience in the field. And that is in all departments. The new update 9.0 improved all aspects of the game. The fighting is on a whole new level. Is it perfect? No, but if you just imagen on what a scale this game is running and doing all in the background. This is nothing but impressive. If you only focus on one aspect of the game in detail the game will always have shortcomings to a competitor that focus only on that gameplay loop. But
there is no package today that combines all of the game loops on a okay ++ level like X4.
Too few observations to say whether a discount moves this store's chart at all: across the last 30 days Steam · Top Sellers · Poland has just 18 day-to-day chart moves that followed a price cut, against 2,498 that did not. We are publishing the count instead of a direction — 20 is the fewest we will draw a conclusion from, and price collection outside the United States began on 6 August 2026.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Been a fan since I first played X3 back in 2005. Very immersive game with so much to do. X4 has come a long way since it first launched, with Egosoft constantly updating and improving the game with free content updates and paid DLCs, all of which have been worth paying for, and they're not done yet. Put 1000 hours in and just starting a new playthrough now, game is addicting. If you're looking for a space sim where you can fly ships and also manage a galactic empire, look no further.
It's a big learning curve...but I think it will be worth it. I look forward to being good at this!!!
Not an easy game to get into, you will need some patience, but absolutely worth it.
one of those sandbox games where you ask your self, can i do this and the answer is almost always yes, and if not theres a mod for it. Worth every penny

So, X4. I have well over seven hundred hours in this game at the time of writing this review. The game itself is difficult to quantify; the learning curve can be very, very steep - but that entirely depends on how one plays the game. I've happily putted about in my little trashy ship for dozens of hours exploring. I've also gotten into dogfights with alien aggressors (in a significantly more survivable ship). I've even directed both offensive and defensive fleet engagements from the bridge of a battleship as escorting destroyers hurl death into space in desperate bids to swat down oncoming bomber wings before they cripple my ships. I have agonized over the placement of a single resource probe, and I've overseen the wholesale harvesting of entire systems. I've gone from exulting over finding a single crystal I could sell for 10,000 to building a massive self-sustaining shipyard capable of producing anything a customer with enough cash could ever want. I've witnessed battles right outside my station when two factions that hate each other discover their ships had completed at exactly the same time; which leads to yet more orders very soon after the lightshow ends. A player can go from zipping about the very detailed stations, to designing their own stations, to realizing that he's been staring at various menus for days... and are having fun the entire time. This game is from a small team, but with a gigantic passion; and it shows in every facet of the game. Both good, and bad. The gameplay loops are excellent, but the UI is clunky and initially difficult to navigate. The ships and stations are a joy to behold, but the human (and alien) character models are hysterically awful. The game does have mission trees, but the heart of the game is a sandbox - so please keep that in mind. To summarize: Over seven hundred and forty hours playing this game. X4 is not without it's faults; but I love it despite, or perhaps even for, them.
