About
Welcome to Elderfield is a cozy horror RPG where the abnormal is normal, the townsfolk are odd, the eldritch beings watch over you and the local news reports seem stranger by the day.

Everything in Elderfield is unsettling, from the haunting, horror manga-inspired, hand-drawn visuals to the dark, lofi soundscapes composed by Dated. Despite the strange creatures lurking just outside your home, those who wander into Elderfield rarely find a reason… or option, to leave.

Customize your home and character, unravel daily mysteries, befriend the odd townsfolk (or even marry one!), go fishing, spend your afternoons mining and forage through the surrounding wilds… There's lots to do in Elderfield!

Cultivate your land, harvest your crops, and stop the growth of unruly tentacles. Manage a variety of strange, otherworldly livestock, grow useful crops like corn, pumpkins, teeth or eyeballs and hope that beings from the woods don’t wander onto your farm.

Choose your difficulty, how much suffering can you endure? For players seeking a peaceful life of harvest and discovery, cozy difficulty offers a more laid-back experience. For those who crave a challenge, the Old Gods are waiting.
Elderfield features a deep, turn-based combat system where you must utilize gathered resources, strategic buffs and diverse equipment to survive encounters with ancient, Lovecraftian horrors.
Die, learn, farm, and forage… Then die again.
Full RPG life sim with relationships, customization, fishing and more

Dark lofi soundtrack by Dated

Some Optimization Problems but overall a great experience.
I'm sure I didn't give this a "fair try," but first impressions mean a lot and my first impression is this was made by someone who really misses high school. The artwork seemed cool so I grabbed it but once I booted the game something just put me off pretty quick.
Very fun so far! Perfect "Halloween-themed" farming sim. It has its issues, but nothing worth quitting the game over. I'm having trouble with the options not staying the same, I tweak the audio and control mapping but every time I quit the game, when I launch it again the options are back to default. But other than that, I've had no bugs or issues. The combat could use a minor tweak, but they do let you putz around with the game settings. Normal is pretty punishing, which I'm not totally against, but easy trivializes combat so much that it turns it into an annoyance rather than a fight. Thankfully, there are shrines in each area that you can use to enhance the enemies so if you're blasting through everyone in one hit on easy you can use the shrines to bump up the difficulty without going to normal. There is a little bit of a grind to this game. I played Fields of Mistria for like 60 hours and finished the story by Year 2. I've put 15 hours into this game (as of this review) and haven't even finished the first month. There's a ton to do! I do worry a little bit that some of the anomalies and mysteries will get old quickly, but I can't definitively claim that because I don't know if they change up for each season. Seems like a game well suited to having more added in the future as updates, if the developer sees fit to do so. I know it seems like I didn't like this game because I only mentioned the stuff I didn't like, but there's a lot to love here! It has what all great farming sims have: the realization that it's 11pm and I need to go to bed, but there's always just ooonnneee tiny thing I can do first. "Sure, bedtime. But let me just smelt a few more iron. Now let me just go turn in this task. OK, OK, sleep soon, but let me go check out this anomaly. Oh! It's Sunday! I can switch the god I'm worshipping out and go check out the door that was locked unless you were worshipping a different god--shouldn't take that long. Yikes, it's getting late, I should really quit, but the Library's interior randomized again so I'll go take a quick peek at it first." Then I look at the clock and it's 2:40am. Oops. All in all, I'm thoroughly enjoying it so far. I'll come back and update this review after I get a little further along!
Stardew valley in nightvale
Obsessed. Absolutely obsessed with this project and it's most likely going to be my game of the year. I've always wanted a farm sim horror game. But like, creepy horror. Disturbing. And this gave me everything I ever wanted and more. This is the type of game I wanted without even realizing it. On the surface, many people think "oh it's a spooky Stardew game!". Which is also what I thought originally. But once you dive into it, you realize just how much more there is to discover. This game does not hold your hand. It can be very challenging if you're not careful, even on normal (there are many difficulties you can choose from). But if it is too much, you can make it easier (or harder) at any time. There's many quality of life things I enjoy about this game that are missing in other farming sims. Not being forced to sleep (see what happens if you stay awake), no stamina for regular tool use, the ability to teleport home without using a ton of resources or waiting a long time in game to unlock. And many more. And don't even get me started on the art and music in this game?? IT'S SO GOOD. I will scream about it forever because that is one of the things that makes this game stand out. Just looking at any in-game screenshots of the characters/creatures of this game will make you stop in your tracks. When streaming this game so many people will come out of lurk just to react to the new art on screen. I might be wrong but when doing a lil deep diving... I think it was all (mostly?) made by one person. I found some work from Chris/Ill-Advised Records from like six years ago... The dev is very talented. But regardless of who, or how many helped create this game. You can really feel the passion put into this project. The music can be such a vibe, but immediately make you feel uneasy when encountering an enemy or a dangerous area. It does a great job keeping you on the edge of your seat like watching a horror movie. AND NO GEN AI. I will say though, pls give us purple hair. That's literally the only thing I disliked lmao But seriously, this game is worth the money. I know I didn't purchase this myself so it is a biased opinion. But I would have bought it after watching a few min of someone's playthrough. If you are still unsure, maybe watch some gameplay. It's okay if it ends up not being for you. Most of the friends who bought this can't stop playing it. One of my friends played for like 12 hours straight haha But man. I am so impressed. This is a full game too, no early access. And there is already talks of new romance options being added in the future. So who knows what else we might see coming to Elderfield one day... Can't recommend this game enough.
This is my new favorite farming sim type game. It has combat that isn't boring, better traveling system then similar games, interesting NPC and atmosphere, and so much more. The music is a big highlight for me as well. I cannot recommend this game enough for people who enjoy farming games.
