About
Warhounds is a turn-based tactical & strategy game, inspired by XCOM and Jagged Alliance, about a mercenary squad with an old-school action movie vibe. Command an elite team of bold, stylish operators, wage a campaign in an alternate-future Africa, and decide the war’s outcome mission by mission.
Calculate lines of fire and flank angle, break cover, and seize the high ground. Every turn is decided more by your planning and tactics, less - by RNG.
Combine classes: Assault, Specialist, Sniper, Machine Gunner, and Grenadier. Pick the right gear for the job, treat and extract, and protect key operatives. Take calculated risks. High combat lethality makes every decision count.
Recruit, upgrade, purchase equipment, and handle logistics, finances, medical supplies, and downtime. Choose allied factions, build relationships, gather intel, and execute covert ops. Your choices have consequences: your decisions determine your access to missions, gear, and allies.
Deploy drones, combat scanners, smoke, and optical camo. Upgrade and improve your kit to win under any conditions.
Knock out a mission in 25-40 minutes, or settle in for a long session. Customize the challenge: go for a brutal tactical hell or a light, relaxing run.
No point-blank misses - flank + close distance = 100% hit chance.
Real ballistics, destructible cover, vertical gameplay, and cone overwatch.
Mercenaries with character and mission-focused loadouts without any busywork.
Base management, contracts, budgets, allies, and consequences for your actions.
Assemble your squad. Take the contract. Decide Africa’s future beyond 2035.

Apart from the russian paranoia in the comments (I hate politics, but I just have to mention it)... Warhounds scratches an itch. Far from perfect and maybe too simmilar to XCOM gameplay and JA3 story. So far it stands on its own legs, but does not dance around. Maybe too simmilar to XCOM and not "new" enough. No bold moves, just solid XCOM "scratcher". Has potential, but so far, nothing too crazy. Soldier classes are very limited (both in number and in abilities that you can choose). Maybe just a moment to get back to politics... In the start you command an Australian, British (I guess), Russian (I guess) and an American soldier. I love underlining "we should just all get along" premise (althou, just another "problem in Africa" story).
Первые впечатления классные! Очень напоминает XCOM Enemy Within.

This is very much a game for people who see "turn-based tactics" in the description and immediately start making happy monkey noises. It has cover, grids, overwatch, flanking, different weapons and all the other familiar ingredients. Nothing here is going to make the genre collectively fall out of its chair, but honestly? I don't need every game to reinvent the wheel. Sometimes I just want a good wheel. There are definitely rough edges, especially visually, but the combat loop is already fun enough to keep me playing.
This game is amazing! Not only it has some amazing tactical combats, using the environment and having to take in consideration the roles of each member of your squad but you also can actually manage your group like a business. I can't recommend it enough.
Objective: Kill All Enemies, then it doesn't spawn enemies. Cannot progress in the game because I can't complete the necessary missions. Along with the random 10% chance that crits my men, but at 80+% I miss with an upgraded sniper? Idk how the "true ballistics" work but it doesn't seem very true to me.
Ok game. I was sure that nobody will need raw and buggy Warhounds when Zero Company is out. But after playing Star Wars in 15 FPS - maybe I’ll stay here a bit longer 😀
Did not check it for me. A few points: - Storyline seems rushed. A good tactical shooter must be paired with a good story to get me playing over time. - There are some decent mechanics, but the AI gameplay is predictable and unrealistic. They are easy to defeat using cover and grenades. - Good idea with base on the ship and missions around, almost like old school X-COM. - Graphics seems rushed - Also get weapon ranges correct. I mean i Sniper that shoots 100 meters is just dumb Have potential, but need a lot of refinement and work 5/10
The game looks like it came from an alternate universe where XCOM never existed but everyone somehow independently came up with XCOM. And honestly, I mean that as a compliment. It has that very specific old-school tactical game feeling. A little rough around the edges, but surprisingly addictive.
Great game. I played the demo and this is much more fleshed out. Good difficulty and good skill chains. XCom without aliens and with loads of pretty good voice acting. It's very good.
It ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sucks. Its like somebody made a crossover between XCOM and Jagged Alliance but only with the worst parts from each game combined with ♥♥♥♥ graphics, a naive woke chick as the narrator, and every lame african stereotype known to man. The economy system, contracts and missions play like they're half finished and are extremely repetative. In addition to being useless seeing as you can just auto skip them with money or missiles. The overwatch mechanic is poorly designed compared to other games and unlike Jagged Alliance theres very little customization in gear and mercs. The only unique feature are the unique mercs but those are equally redundant seeing as levels, weapons and armor are literally the only factors deciding success. This game could have been so good if the developers were able to copy features from other good games in the genre, because original thinking and design is a skill set they have yet to master. Absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
