1 playthrough, 83 hours, and many MANY choices later Wandering Sword has become one of my favorite RPGs. There are so many outcomes and choices to so many things, it's truly a shining example of player agency. 9.5/10. Yaoyao best girl.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Fantastic JRPG with a unique Wuxia setting. The story is really good all around and even gets quite touching at some parts. My personal favourite storyline in the game is the Nanjiang storyline with Bai Weiyi and the Snowlock Tribe.
This storyline shows the clash of ideals between the main character Yuwen Yi and Bai Weiyi and is executed quite nicely in my opinion.
There are also quite a lot companions that you will meet throughout the game that have varying recruitment conditions so a guide is a must to avoid missing them completely. These companions also have their own companion quests to flesh out their backstories and motivations. Almost all the companions also have plot relevance with the exception of a few companions. My favourite companion is Xun Yaoyao, the wronged actress with a great romance. I love the 2.5D artstyle of the game. It really suits the Wuxia aesthetic with the backgrounds. On the gameplay side, the UI of the game is quite poor, with no way to upgrade all companions quickly and instead going 1 by 1. Even with this flaw, there is a large variety of skills which allow for quite unique builds depending on the player. The actual battles is generally left on auto due to the fact there are so many of them. On the musical side, its generally quite good, but the overworld track is quite repetitve IMO. I would highly recommend Wandering Sword if you are at all interested in the Wuxia/Murim genre.
You need a companion walkthrough otherwise it's really to miss out on companions. Do a side quest too late? you're locked out of that companion Choose the wrong response? you're locked out of that companion. Didn't bring the right companions for a certain quest? locked out of the best ending. Don't have the right amount of affection? Locked out of companion. There's no hints on how to proceed, which makes this a frustrating experience. You don't feel free to undertake quests in any order; doing so potentially locks you out of content. It feels so restrictive when you don't feel safe exploring stuff, and feel pressured to do every side quest for fear of missing out on content, have to refer to a guide for companions, or refer to a guide on when it is the best time to do the dlc content. How do the devs think that playing like this is fun? There are games with multiple endings, e.g witcher 3, but games like these don't lock me out of the content, respect my time, allow me the freedom to do whatever I wish. I can't say the same for this game. To make it worse, the game is half translated. The conversations are in english, but the ui is missing some english translations. This is not the way you want to market to a global audience. You'll probably have to play the game multiple times to get all the missables, but the game isn't interesting enough for multiple playthroughs.
The game is just so good I don't know where to begin... I've gotta be on my 6th playthrough by now or something. 6 playthroughs, and by the way, I discover something new EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Some random things that are just fabulous about Wandering Sword: 1. THE CHARACTER ART HELLO??? 2. The fact that new updates and DLC just keep coming out 3. The music oh my lands 4. WEI HUO 5. Stunning visuals and pixel scenery 6. YAN WEIHUAN 7. There is soooo much story and plot content that I sometimes get lost in the sauce but I LOVE that, because I'd rather have too much story than too little, without a doubt 8. DID I MENTION HUO AND WEIHUAN Just get the game yall
Must be the best RPG I played in a long time. Story and characters are very interesting. Would prefer to have a choice in which sect to join, but its difficult to narrate, so I get it. The gameplay and progression are also very interesting, no handholding (played on Normal) and due to the difficulty, you sometimes need to take advantage of a temporary companions from other questlines, which is a great design decision. There is a lot of attention to detail with characters, locations and quests. Makes me nostalgic, I remember playing KOTOR 1 and 2 with same enthusiasm (Peragus doesn't count). 9/10 small bugs and is a little grindy, which with cultivation simulators might be actually the point, so doesn't impact my score.
