About
Castles weren’t built to move. Now they do.
Wanderburg is a fast-paced, minimalist roguelike set in a medieval world of roaming fortresses. Castles hunt, Villages flee. And only the biggest stronghold survives. What begins as a modest moving fortress quickly becomes a growing, devouring war machine that reshapes the battlefield with every run.

Roll forward and consume everything in your path. Fleeing villages, wandering flocks and smaller fortresses all feed your growth. Defeat powerful enemy castles to push your evolution further. Your castle does not just upgrade - it expands.
Steam-powered siege engines roll beside arcane artillery. Knights ride bicycles into battle. Massive strongholds fire broadsides like warships on land. And somewhere beyond the hills, something bigger is already on the move.

Build your modular arsenal piece by piece. Break the game while you're at it. Mount cannons, raise arcane towers staffed with wizards, deploy explosives, and experiment with wildly different builds each run. Between runs, unlock new modules and vehicles that open up fresh strategies and game-breaking combinations.
A modular progression system lets you expand your moving fortress with new siege modules and structures, while unlockable vehicles, artifacts and captains between runs steadily widen your strategic options and build variety.
Fully playable with mouse, keyboard, or controller and highly optimized for almost anything you throw at it.

Reviews
simple but addictive
Tedious and repetitive

My castle has wheels. Yeah. Wheels. As in vroom vroom. It sports nitrous, a broadside of cannon, some whackjobs with bows up top picking off PBI (that's "Poor Bloody Infantry"), and I am beset by enemy castles, most of whom also have wheels. The few that don't have mecha legs. This world is cracked out, maaan. This is what you get if you take vehicle combat, with a dash of Katamari Damacy, but clap on a bunch of Survivorslike and roguelite progression stuff. Right, except instead of cars it's castles, in some weird intersection of technology and a bit of magic. Do cheevos, get currency, buy new starter kit, find an area to attack. You're stuck in a confined area, several screens in size, but the edges are rounded so it's like a hockey rink, you don't get stuck in corners. Anyway, as you fight, pick up gold coins, which level you up, and give you a palette of upgrades, part of the art of this is to pick upgrades that synergize with what you have, so you can uncork bigger bottles of whupass. It's required, because as the mission progresses the enemies have a greater thirst for, aah, those bigger bottles. This analogy is starting to fall apart. Beating bosses upsizes your castle. What you ran from you now eat. Yeah, if you can fit it in your castle's portcullis you can just nomf them, be it sheep or infantry, or later on houses or smaller combat forts that used to dwarf you. Now the wheel is on the other castle! Ha ha, man, I'm sorry, it's full dadforce today. Now, it's not all quite perfect here, but the issues are relatively minor. The UI is a bit weird, esc not allowing one to back out of menus, selecting an area to fight commits you to it, and there's the occasional typo here and there. I kind of prefer to think they were just rushed with enthusiasm as opposed to being inattentive to spelling. (Coders with bad spelling seems really ironic to me on a level I really have to stretch to weave into a good story.) Anyway, I plan on streaming this on the week of release. I've been doing this for awhile and, heck, it'd be cool if you showed up. http://www.twitch.tv/fdejeuner. 20:00 EST. It's remarkably difficult for me to promote myself, but here we are. Only you can put out this forest fire. And you can get a taste of my wife's glee for castle-based vehicular hijinks.
Es gibt nur eine Burg, das ist die Wanderburg!
