Wall Street Raider

The first time I played Wall Street Raider it was one of those games my friend had on a 3 3/4 inch floppy (or whatever the size was) and I copied it and... well, loved it, that was a DOS game (I think I played it on Win3.1?). When I was an adult I longed for that game and was delighted to find it still alive and well, maintained by the single developer (Ronin Software). So I finally did the responsible thing and paid for a Windows-compatible version. And now it is on Steam! This version maintains some of the quirks and you have to be mindful of the fact that you WILL have to learn the interface and it is NOT a great user experience. But once you get used to it and you get stuck in it is by far one of the best simulators of its kind. The game throws curveballs at a reasonable pace, some factors are not exactly realistic and indeed predictable (Buy bitcoin below 50k, sell it at 200k and you will make a killing if you are patient enough, short bitcoin at 800k expecting it to come down and be bankrupted in a month because it kept accelerating to 1.2m) But it is early access (for possibly the oldest game IP you can buy on Steam, it's older than Dwarf Fortress!!!) and the fixes are coming thick and fast. I would like to see a few further improvements, currently buying new 'assets' for a corporation is a case of: This much money please. I'd like to be able to target specific parts to invest in, a new factory? Upgrading the production line and reducing the workforce? A new R&D centre? I'd also like to see updated industries, there are mods for that, but I want it in-game. Other than that, a VERY FIRM recommend for nerds like me who aren't put off by spreadsheet simulators like this. Now, go away, I am trying a leveraged buy-out of Microshaft!

Thank you developers & Team - Awesome Game! This is game for THOSE who want a tool to excell, practise & simulate their own stock / crypto thesis. I am enjoying the game. May I ask for a real-estate dlc / rent add on? Then it beats Capitalism 2 & Stonks 9800 without the need for heavy graphics in it's own way. KEEP IT UP DE

无与伦比的游戏，市面上没有替代品。类似彭博终端的界面也劝退大量的人。但只要你是骨灰级玩家，喜欢运营，你就知道资本主义本身就是最有趣的游戏，尤其是金融资本主义。 作者的资历毋庸置疑。但是还是有几个小建议。里面有一些自己的想法，也有一些可能是没弄懂。 1. 大宗商品期货太赖了，黑天鹅风险比不上收益率。比如小麦和油价就是很周期性，油价60左右多，120左右空，只要控制仓位基本稳赚。小麦大概4.8多，9.2时候空，收益非常高。 2. 宏观系统是否可以更细？央行的动机似乎是随机的，很不明显，一个事件就开始变了。是否可以加入pce、cpi等指标，更联动一些？ 3. 油价和gdp、央行利率的关系不是很明显。可能我没搞懂。 4. 没有宽基指数etf，比如标普、纳斯达克这种。行业指数好像也没有，如费城半导体指数这种。 5. 似乎缺乏国际市场。各个国家的产业传导没有体现。比如韩国股指是科技-硬件金丝雀，澳洲央行是实体建设金丝雀等等。 5.5. 好像没有货币和汇率套利系统。比如Yen carry日元套利。 6. 好像没有实体产业链传导，比如大宗商品涨价传导到下游，金价和黄金股齐涨等等。是我没研究透吗？ 7. 数字货币涨跌好像太随意了，现在市场一般是交易降息预期，相当于一个增强版纳指。游戏里似乎没体现这一点。 8. 似乎缺乏一级市场的风投系统。硅谷vc这种模式在里面好像很难体现。 总而言之，这是一个没有竞品的游戏。如果你喜欢运营、喜欢增量，而且对金融感兴趣，这绝对是寓教于乐的不二选择。

Wow, thought I would never see this again. An amazing game! Excellent for people who want to learn about finance

This game could be great but its buggy as ♥♥♥♥ I just started playing and i've already had it basically crash without crashing multiple times. also I know the focus of this is more long term and high value stuff but the fact that there is no way to buy shares at custom sizes below 1% and you only get like 2 ticks per month of data is just awful. If you start with 100 million you are severely handicapped in the types of moves you can make, and if you trade options you are basically flying blind because you only get position updates a few times during the holding period

Phenomenal game! After purchasing the game at launch, it sat in my Steam library intimidatingly and untouched until I had enough energy to try it. Glad I eventually did! It's both educational and great fun. You don't have to understand everything to have fun. If you screw up, you can try again on a different run, almost like a rogue-like in that sense. In my limited financial experience, the market movements in this game feel weirdly real, which is cool. The game even has some advantages over real life paper trading, as you can see your strategies play out faster and have good visibility to market mechanics. If you're the kind of person this looks fun to, you won't be let down by Wall Street Raider.

If you buy this game thinking you can run a company with all the levers you expect, you'll be sorely disappointed. The game at a point offers taking over a company for the sole purpose of, 'pumping it', then dumping the company for a profit. Imo that's scummy behavior at a minimum in the real world, illegal at worst. The ability to grow your company is literally just 'growth' percentage, and r&d percentage, which you need to keep between 9-12% because it's only purpose is to keep the directors competent? Cryptocurrency is ridiculously volatile while gives you significant free money if timed right. Constantly.. There are some unique mechanics, still leaves alot to be desired. Just not my cup of tea.
