I played this game for 10 hours, 12 years ago, and it still sticks in my memory.
A nice, simple and short adventure. Well, it took us 12 years Mr. Biscuit but I finally finished it. I finally know WTF it is. It was fun.
Waking Mars is an amazing Indie game about BIOPUNK botany on Mars. The developers worked on the Thief games, but this game is very indie, it can be felt. There are so few dedicated games in the Biopunk genre, so I was pleasantly surprised! You play as a scientist and research the ecosystem of this one cave on Mars. The protagonist and the supporting character are well written and very mature. Voice actors did good too. They game uses many scientific terms but it is no senseless techno-babble, devs did their research, respect. Gameplay is not that hard, the puzzle elements come from building and nurturing functional ecosystems. Platforming is not a big deal, you fly with a jump-pack and collect various seeds or herd animals. The multiple endings was a great decision, the lore and and story were amazing as well. From what I've seen, the devs have limited resources but manage to create quite good games. Overall, "Waking Mars" is a great game and highly underappreciated!

unique and mostly fun exploratory sci-fi puzzle platformer. plant seeds and create an ecosystem to go deeper and deeper and find out what lies beneath. or something, it's been a while. a few 'rooms' are on the really annoying side, so I didn't 100% them all, which I can take or leave anyway, good enough is good enough, except the real ending hides behind 100% completion here. always a ♥♥♥♥ move, so I just youtubed it. (ignore my runtime, I played in offline mode.) has 3 difficulty settings, a how to play section, separate volumes, text speed setting (typewriter/instant), rebindable controls, windowed mode, multiple save slots to keep progress separate between players, and icons that lead outside the game have a confirmation pop-up instead of immediately switching to a browser. pretty damn good, for a mobile port or otherwise. nice enough graphics, it's fully voiced, there's fast travel via the map, it saves on exit, and the great soundtrack is available as free dlc.
This game is a beautiful gem of science, science fiction, and exploration. 10/10
I loved how this game gives you the real feeling of discovering previously unknown lifeforms on a hostile planet. I've beaten it twice and still enjoy it.
Lovely mash up of visual novel, metroidvania, puzzle and farming sim. Story was enjoyable, going hand in hand with the exploration. Great cast and voice acting.
One of the coolest games I've ever played. They really crafted a full interactable alien ecosystem. You progress in this game by understanding how each alien creature works and learning to use their traits. The alien creatures are so weird and sometimes complex, it takes a long time to fully understand everything. Sommetimes I don't have to do anything, I just watch the ecosystem grow by itself as the creatures organically interact with each other, and somehow that feels even cooler than playing and doing the work yourself.
played this game growing up it was fun for what it is now excuse me while i tend to my phyta zoa like they are my babies which they are my beautiful, unapologeticly suicidal babies
