The idea of introducing a graphical interface was intriguing but I encountered the same game breaking bug on every playthrough and the devs are non responsive (i.e. it will never be fixed) so I can't recommended this game. Gnollhack is a better product if you want to give a facelift to Nethack.
After performing the invocation ritual, there are so many bugs on the last floor of this game. It just keeps crashing is nearly unplayable. It also crashed at the castle without having a backup to restore. However, I found the save file and it had a .e extension i removed the .e and the game reloaded to the castle. I'm not sure if the castle crash is spawning so much issue with the final floor. Since that save file seems to be there forever I am now back down to the vibrating square on what is like a 2nd or 3rd life and each time the final floor is bugged in so many ways. My pets vanished and I cant enter as a Vamp Lord, now I cant even enter as a human. The steam version I had to purchase and it has more bugs than the old free game that worked flawlessly. Quite disappointing to have this right at the end.

Fun, and utterly compulsive.
honestly workable Nethack on the Steamdeck!
I've been playing this for over 20 years and still haven't beaten it. Good luck :D
Awesomeness on a stick~!
Vulture makes a classic game more accessible to new players by streamlining the UI. You can lose yourself for hours on end wandering the dungeons of doom looking for your mythical prize, 10 out of 10 would reccomend.
Great companion to Nethack.
every time i have reinstalled this game, when i hit play or click on the desktop shortcut, it starts acting like it will come up, but then it goes down, and then a word document comes up detailing it. so i dont recommend this game.
It is a grind pure and simple. You will die, you will have stupid deaths, you may even get put down by a shop keeper. But it can be a blast.
