What an underrated rare gem! Amazing game that brought a hint of the original Elite vibes for me. Coming from a single developer, the degree of both polish and complexity, ironed out game mechanics, progression, story, missions and sense of freedom. If you are a fan of space trading and exploration games, you should definitely get this one.
Good dev good game

Needs fix for the 4GB RAM usage limit. I have 32GB RAM, it crashes with not enough memory. Even my gpu has 8GB free memory. I even have a second unused gpu with 12 GB VRAM.
Great game, fun story, good writing. Still a few bugs/crashes here and there, but the way autosave works it doesn't actually cause loss of progress most of the time. Super psyched for the next one!
cool
It's a bit like X4 lite. Combat and progression are quite fun.
I have no words to describe the level of my sadness. How could one invest so many time to develop a game, and not invest a little more to make an UI for it? UI is so terrible I can't tell. Ultrawidescreen breaks it even more. I can't survive this trial even if it's the only way to play it. Sorry. It's scary to imagine what was expecting me in the original game...
toujours au début et sans flotte, mais le jeu me parais suffisamment intéressant pour continuer à suivre dans quelques heures de jeux
Very interesting space sandbox marred by a wonky interface and stability issues. VD2 is a space sandbox game where you start from near-nothing and work your way up to ruling the entire sector with an iron fist. It has some features I haven't seen in any other sandbox games which I think are really cool, such as missions which restrict ship usage or fleet size so that you can't just steamroll a tough mission by grinding for an hour and then showing up with a massive fleet. The game also uses a reserve system which has only a portion of your fleet showing up for any battle (mission or otherwise), which serves the dual purposes of keeping the endgame challenging and keeping your PC from melting. Not that you want to have too massive a fleet, because the game tends to get a bit crashy, especially at scale. You immediately have to decide whether you're playing story mode or sandbox mode. Given my experience with other space sandbox games this felt like a weird choice, but after completing the story mode I understood why the dichotomy: in most sandbox games, completing the story leaves the sandbox open to you, while completing the VD2 story leaves the game's world completely broken. The story is interesting, and it's a real shame the endgame is so unsatisfying. Also, while trying to avoid major spoilers, the endgame also gets tedious. The ships you have to fight spawn CONSTANTLY and even with a fleet full of capital ships take so much of a pounding that you're going to spend 20 minutes on a single battle. Not a major fight that's the culmination of maneuvering and strategy...just one fight in a series of endless battles just to keep from losing ground. The interface is also extremely weird and almost caused me to quit a couple of hours in. Now, most space sandbox games require you to contend with a menu salad that, by the end of the game, feels more like you're playing an Excel simulator than flying a spaceship, so I'm grading on a curve here. But even by the standards of the genre, VD2's interface is clunky and idiosyncratic and it's weirdly hard to do certain things that should be very normal. There are several cool things that make this game very unique among space sandbox games. If this were early access, I'd say buy it, support the developer, and the bugs and wonky bits will get ironed out before release. As this is a mature title not seeing updates anymore, I think you should only bite if you're willing to fight with the game a bit to experience all the good parts that this quirky, unique title has to offer.
