Portal+Doom+roguelike=FUN
Not a product...Engine demo in best case. If you want to play something like that there are a lot of option: Metal Eden, Rogue, etc...The fact that one developer makes a game doesn't mean it can be that "empty" for that price...

Void/Breaker wastes no time showing you how cool it is.
Hell yes! This game is doing a lot of things right, and it's even more so impressive considering that this is (from my understanding) a solo dev game. > Looks good and fairly well optimized > Gameplay is fun > (meta) Progression feels rewarding > Build variety is massive - and oh the silly builds you can end up with sometimes etc. Still in early access but so far looks promising, would recommend.
My review is based on my very first time playing the game, this is during the act 4 update so for obvious reasons it doesn't take into account the upcoming updates that will arrive in june and the second half of 2026, i will update this review or write a new one when those updates come out. VOID/BREAKER is a fast paced, bullet hell FPS game with a gameplay that reminds me a lot of DOOM Eternal, a story that reminds me of I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream and a roguelike element because apparently every indie game needs to have a roguelike element nowadays. Luckily that doesn't make the game unfun, on the contrary, it gives it a certain edge that once you unlock certain upgrades and get certain abilities the game runs buttery smooth and is super satisfying to shoot every robot in your way. The DOOM inspiration is not only obvious in the gameplay, but also in the music, which is pretty much 2016 Mick Gordon. Even when you pick up and object that's important to the story there's a small camera zoom just like in DOOM 2016 and Eternal. However, there's more gameplay elements that make it different enough to not be a DOOM clone, elements that make it resemble titles like titanfall/apex legends/ghostrunner such as a slide mechanic, sword melee mechanic, grapple hooks, wall running, destructible environments along many other cool stuff that adds a lot of adrenaline and fun to the gameplay. I wouldn't say there's many super original ideas here but they're executed in a way that makes it super enjoyable and fun to play. Personally, my only issue was about how similar act 1-3 felt. They feel very same-ey in nature, they don't really feel like completely different places, except for some vegetation changes here and there or a climactic change. Which is disappointing, given the fact that since lore-wise it all happens inside a simulation, there could have been some incentive to make every stage look as different as possible. However I can tell that act 4 was added later because it addresses all my concerns completely changing the environment into something that makes the first 3 acts feel like a completely different thing (in a good way). Act 4 also adds some new mechanics that add a lot to the gameplay and make it even more movement-free and interesting. I'm specifically talking about wall running and shielded enemies. Shielded enemies force you to use melee which is amazing since i never actually used it in act 1-3, and wall running which is just super cool to have. The SMG is a weapon that got added with this update and is honestly the one i had the most fun with and i don't think i'll ever be switching back to another one. The ending of act 3 is amazing and I can tell that 2 more acts are on the works based on how act 4 ends (also on the dev roadmap lol). I can't wait to see what this game has in store and i'll definitely recommend any fans of FPS, the games I mentioned, stories about post-apocalyptic futures, the musical works of Mick Gordon or even just fans of roguelikes to check this out. It's a very good game and i consider it very underrated, it definitely deserves more attention than some FPS games made by million dollar companies. And IT WAS MADE BY ONE PERSON. Just extremely solid work. Worth every penny.
Such a PERFECT mix of a game! The Rougelite with the gunplay is incredible, the movement feels great, the mods are fun to build guns with! I need more modules and zones!!!! Thank you Daniel, sweet game! Incredible work for a single dev!
absolute banger, 10/10
it helped me hone my reflexes, easy to learn hard to master (i have mastered it tho)
I have yet to get past the first zone, but man is this game fun!!! The Graphics are amazing, and well optimized. Being able to destroy a building and stun enemies is a blast! So many different synergies with the upgrade modules means you will never have the same run, making the replay value extremely good. This is definitely a fresh take on the roguelite fps shooter genre.
Ce jeu est un concentré d'adrénaline et de dopamine pure, on peut faire des builds incroyable sans pour autant se priver de challenge. Je recommande chaudement.
