Void Bastards

As someone who doesn't particularly enjoy roguelikes I gotta admit; I really had a lot of fun with this game. Shooting feels good, there's a decent amount of enemy variety, and the game fulfills the promise of making you feel like a true scavenger among the Sargasso Nebula. If you want a solid FPS-roguelike with some dark/crude-humor mixed in look no further. That being said there are some negatives: [*] Like most rogulikes I've tried this games biggest flaw is the level design. The levels aren't poorly executed (for the most part), it's more so that they all bleed together. There's very little variation between the different ships you visit. [*] I also feel it was a missed opportunity not including more immersive-sim elements into the game. If a ship has a ton of fires throughout it, why can't there be a way for me to put them out? I could throw water on it or open the airlocks to snuff it out for example. If more of these immersive-sim elements were implemented in the game I would be way more forgiving towards the level design. [*] While there is a decent amount of enemy variety, a few more unique types would have benefited the game greatly.

Whether you're carefully planning your next move or engaging in adrenaline-fueled firefights with hordes of enemies, it's not getting dull since there are always things to craft & upgrade for which you'll be willing to visit the most deadly places of the comix galaxy. And let's not forget about the humor. "Void Bastards" is packed with witty dialogue, clever writing, and laugh-out-loud moments that add an extra layer of enjoyment to the experience. It's a game that doesn't take itself too seriously, and that sense of levity is part of what makes it so endearing. Overall, Void Bastards with its unique art style and challenging gameplay is a title that for sure may keep you entertained for hours on end.
