View From Below

I don't really write reviews here, but since this game seems to be so hugely slept on right now, I will. First and foremost: the game is amazing. I will say that is rather heavily inspired by Undertale in the progression, narrative and some ideas. That is most evident in the first chapter. But after that, it becomes it's own unique game where a lot of those things that made Undertale great are used and developed further. The story is fantastic and the characters loveable. Some of the edginess in terms of curse words could have been left off though. Music is also really great, and the graphics are definitely doing much more than could be expected from it. I highly, highly recommend buying the game. This might not sound like a compliment, but I mean it as such: this is the best Undertale inspired game out there. If you shake off the connections with Undertale you have an emotional, funny, fascinating game with equally deep and immersive world. Huge recommendation.

If you enjoyed playing undertale, you'll probably enjoy playing this too. It shares some similar features from undertale such combat, puzzles, morality? Overall i can't call this an undertale clone ,however, it does shares some nostalgic aesthetics to make you think otherwise.

Really enjoyed the combat in this!!

Want to start off with negatives first. There are two particular sections that really aren't turn based. It's dodge stuff to get somewhere. Coming into those sections with not much practice of dodging in the open world isn't a fun experience for me. Also using magic feels really inconsistent since the combos to pull of good damage are randomized on a bunch of them. It's so much easier to just run melee and hit Z when it's the correct time. Good parts though? Story is engaging and paced really well I think. Love how it slows down at the end. More time is given on the characters and it feels great to. There's reasons to play it a second time. Love that in games where it's not just new game+, but something a little different now that you know the story and what to do, plus a little harder. It's a charming game, but those two issues really put me off personally. You might find them not bothersome though. In which case, more power to you! Oh and a random small tip. When you fight the octopus enemies, turn down the volume. The evade minigame is loud for that particular enemy!
