тяжко бути мігрантом. готував пів години щоб той бовдур не прийшов їсти. але в фіналі він виріс і одумався все ж таки. як на мене гра дуже дорога за 1.5г контенту. 5/10 десь так

I played this with my boyfriend and we both loved it. the story was very engaging and extremely heartfelt <3 the cooking was very satisfying - I especially loved the sound design when you added the ingredients! and the art style was gorgeous :3 Overall this game was extremely immersive, especially as someone who adores cooking. there were many recipes i would be interested in trying... and I can because they include the irl recipes after you complete them!! 10/10 - for sure the world's most engaging cookbook XD and I would highly recommend!

A touching short story with some cooking elements about immigration and culture through the eyes of food. Played it on my steam deck and had no issues during it. The game is really short so I'd wait for a sale to grab it as it only takes 2 hours ish to 100% the whole thing and get all the achievements.

Venba is not just a cozy cooking sim. Although it starts that way, I think the best way to describe it is a bittersweet slice of an expat family’s life: the trials of pursuing a better life while mourning the loss of the one they have left behind, and their efforts to preserve their cultural identity and heritage through cooking. If you have been in their shoes, this narrative experience will feel deeply personal. If you haven’t, it offers an intimate glimpse into what some of your neighbors and friends may be going through. As a mother, I found some moments especially touching and heartbreaking. [spoiler]I broke down when I was prompted to reply to Kavin’s text messages and scrolled all the way back to the beginning. Seeing his widowed, lonely mother faithfully text him "good morning" and "good night" every day, only to receive no response, broke my heart. So did watching her cook an entire spread of delicious food and get ghosted by the only person left in her life. [/spoiler] The game also gives the grown child space to share his side of the story and his struggle to reconcile his two identities. Yet Venba, like its eponymous character, never indulges in self-pity. It begins as a cheerful story of new beginnings and high hopes, develops into a tale of resilience and ends on a heartwarming note. The art direction is exquisite, and the recipes look mouthwatering. The traditional South Indian music and excellent sound design make the cooking feel real. Hearing the pan sizzle and watching the biryani take shape in the cooking puzzles is a joy to eyes and ears. The puzzles are simple but satisfying, and they are probably best experienced on a handheld device such as the Steam Deck. At times, you’ll feel as though you are in the kitchen yourself, deciphering a recipe book in a language unfamiliar to both you and Kavin, while imagining the aromas and flavors of the dishes. After finishing the game, you unlock the actual recipe book as well as the soundtrack, which are a nice touch and keep the story going in your own kitchen and music player. Unfortunately, the roughly 90-minute runtime and limited gameplay make the asking price too steep.
