This game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥! Lots of cool ♥♥♥♥ to collect and lots of cool car parts to get. The slight mechanic aspect of car maintenance is really cool without being too complicated. I cant wait to see what gets added over time. It runs SO SMOOTH on the steam deck. I just wish there was button glyphs but its a solid and very unique game
Relaxing indie gem with physics and a lot of driving. Somehow you keep driving for more. It well paces out the new locations and items. Don't forget to feed the cat!

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

UNDER the SAND - a road trip simulator turns a lonely drive through an alternative 1980s wasteland into an atmospheric mixture of vehicle maintenance, survival, scavenging, and procedural exploration. Developed and published by IndieMax, it takes place in a world devastated by extreme global warming, where civilization has largely disappeared beneath an expanding desert. The player's journey begins with an old pickup truck and a personal objective connected to fulfilling a deceased father's final request. From there, the game largely avoids conventional storytelling structures and allows the road, the vehicle, and the increasingly isolated environment to become the heart of the experience. The journey unfolds across procedurally generated stretches of road rather than a traditional handcrafted open world. Highways, rough terrain, intersections, and branching routes create uncertainty about what might appear beyond the next horizon. Various points of interest break up the otherwise empty landscape, giving players reasons to stop, investigate abandoned locations, search for useful items, and collect junk. Stores provide opportunities to sell unwanted discoveries and acquire supplies, creating a simple economy that complements the scavenging loop. This structure works particularly well for players who enjoy exploration without being constantly directed by objective markers. Vehicle management provides much of the game's mechanical depth. The car is more than a method of transportation because numerous individual components can be removed, replaced, repaired, or customized. Engines, batteries, wheels, doors, steering components, auxiliary equipment, body parts, and decorative objects contribute to making each vehicle feel like an ongoing project. Different parts can also be painted, allowing players to create a vehicle with considerably more personality than the game's deliberately modest visual style might initially suggest. Mechanical condition matters throughout the journey. Fuel consumption must be considered, while the radiator requires water to prevent overheating. Damage can affect individual parts of the vehicle, meaning reckless driving may create problems that persist long after the collision itself. Tires interact differently with various surfaces, and suspension behavior helps communicate the uneven character of desert roads and off-road terrain. Engine choices further influence how a vehicle behaves. A more economical setup can make long-distance exploration easier to sustain, while a stronger performance-oriented engine supports higher speeds and a more aggressive driving style. Survival mechanics add another layer without forcing every player into the same difficulty level. Hunger, thirst, fatigue, character damage, vehicle damage, resource consumption, and aspects of world generation can be adjusted. This flexibility is one of the game's better design choices because its strongest qualities are atmosphere and experimentation rather than punishing survival difficulty. Players who simply want to drive, explore, collect parts, and customize vehicles can reduce the harsher mechanics, while those seeking more tension can make resources and mechanical failures more meaningful. The absence of conventional post-apocalyptic enemies also gives the game a distinctive personality. There are no hordes of zombies or monsters constantly forcing the journey into combat encounters. Instead, the threats are largely practical: running short on fuel, damaging the vehicle, exhausting supplies, overheating the engine, or simply being poorly prepared for what lies ahead. This makes the wasteland strangely peaceful. Long periods of uninterrupted driving allow the player to appreciate the isolation rather than treating the environment as nothing more than a battlefield. Character customization adds some variety through appearance choices and selectable character classes with different traits. It is not an especially deep role-playing system, but it complements the adjustable survival mechanics and helps distinguish one attempt from another. Combined with procedural roads and vehicle customization, these options provide enough flexibility to encourage experimentation with different approaches instead of making every journey unfold identically. Visually, the stylized low-poly presentation works surprisingly well. The simplified scenery emphasizes enormous stretches of sand, lonely roads, abandoned structures, and the occasional discovery standing against the horizon. It does not chase photorealism, which ultimately benefits the game's unusual atmosphere. There is something simultaneously relaxing and unsettling about traveling through this quiet world, particularly when the player has been driving for a long period without encountering anything familiar. Music strengthens that road-trip identity through collectible cassettes that can be played using the vehicle's radio. The available musical styles help transform extended drives from simple transportation into atmospheric moments. Small touches and eccentric details throughout the game also prevent its bleak setting from becoming excessively grim. The result feels less like a traditional apocalypse simulator and more like a strange, nostalgic road adventure taking place after the world has already moved on. The procedural design inevitably introduces repetition. Locations, scavenging, vehicle upkeep, and long stretches of driving can become predictable once the core systems are familiar. Players expecting extensive dialogue, elaborate quests, frequent action, or a tightly scripted campaign may therefore find the experience too sparse. The driving and mechanical systems also sit somewhere between accessible simulation and sandbox experimentation rather than offering the extreme technical complexity of a dedicated automotive simulator. Steam Deck compatibility is rated Playable rather than fully Verified. The game can be enjoyed on the handheld with its default controller configuration, and general performance and text readability are suitable for portable play. However, some interface elements may occasionally display mouse, keyboard, or non-Deck controller prompts, and using external controllers can require additional manual adjustment. These inconveniences are relatively minor, and the relaxed driving-focused gameplay translates reasonably well to the Steam Deck. Ultimately, UNDER the SAND - a road trip simulator is at its best when treated as a quiet sandbox about keeping an aging machine alive while traveling deeper into an unpredictable desert. Vehicle customization, component management, scavenging, survival settings, procedural roads, cassette music, and the hauntingly empty environment create an experience with genuine individuality. Repetition and limited narrative complexity keep it from being universally appealing, but players who appreciate unconventional driving games and solitary exploration may find its lonely highways surprisingly absorbing.
