'Ultratron' is a slick, high-energy tribute to the golden age of twin-stick shooters, successfully modernizing the Robotron: 2084 formula with a vibrant neon aesthetic and a rewarding progression system. The game’s primary strength lies in its addictive "risk versus reward" gameplay loop, where players must balance the frantic destruction of robotic swarms with the tactical collection of fruit and coins to fund vital upgrades. The addition of customizable drones and diverse power-ups provides a layer of depth that keeps the combat from feeling like a simple exercise in reflexes, while the escalating visual chaos and pulsing electronic soundtrack create a highly immersive arcade atmosphere. However, the game’s rigid adherence to its retro roots means that the experience can become repetitive during extended play sessions. While the four distinct boss stages provide necessary milestones, the core gameplay loop doesn't vary significantly across its 40+ levels, which may lead to fatigue for players seeking narrative depth or mechanical evolution. Additionally, the screen can occasionally become so cluttered with neon effects and projectiles that tracking the player character becomes a challenge, leading to frustrating deaths in later waves. Ultimately, 'Ultratron' is a beautifully polished and intense arcade shooter that perfectly captures the "one more try" spirit, even if its narrow focus limits its appeal for those looking for a more varied modern experience.

Too stylized for its own good. (Unfortunately, the hallmark of Puppygames. It's too much of a good thing tbf.) Popped in after a long break as I'm having a "twin-stick" moment. ;) ...To find it as off-putting as I remembered. Almost completely lacking in modern conventional QoL, configurability, and esp. accessibility options. Superficially fun but difficult to go very deep on. Some very demanding achievements, which, given the above, will probably drive you crazy before you get them. Frames capped at 60 for some aggravating reason. And the motion has an odd clunkiness to it, like a game that is very visibly grid-based -- almost like a turn-based game -- vs. the buttery coin-op smoothness of ... y'know... the game they're ripping off. Also the entire game takes place in an odd vignette. Supposed to simulate said coin-op, maybe? It's basically letterboxed to ~4:3 / ~50% of your widescreen screen-area. Ick.
Wow this game is fun. Especially if you love Robotron 2084 the way I do. I'm picky about art styles, and I like this one a lot.
A stealth sequel to Droid Assault, where the robots take over the world and you go on a (pretty futile) mission to avenge humanity. A very fun and humorous game - though it's probably my least favorite of the "neo-retro" bunch, that isn't saying much, as it's still great. While I haven't really gotten into Vampire Survivors and its clones yet, this game actually has an ending and therefore presents a solid level of challenge throughout, without going into infinite roguelike territory, making it a bit more satisfying than a pure score assault. If you enjoy Geometery Wars, etc. then it will be a worthwhile experience to play. Similar to Titan Attacks, it is full twitch reflexes with not that much strategic depth.
Controller not recognized. Badly made. Amateur

pretty kewl stuff lad
A fast-paced twin-stick shooter with a nostalgic arcade feel. Its tight controls and engaging gameplay offer a blast of retro fun, perfect for quick sessions or extended play.
Headache inducing constant flashing colors and ripple distortion effects that obscure the action and lead to clusters of hit taking while the screen is blurry and distorted. Pausing the game will also sometimes cause the run you're doing to just restart for some reason.
