About
The pool bar is always open! Ultrapool is a colorful roguelike about playing pool with a bunch of wacky balls with crazy effects. Carefully craft a perfect build and get the craziest trickshots!
Get comfy, choose a cocktail, and get ready for a very special game of pool. Assemble a triangle of balls with strange effects and get the sickest trickshots. The bartenders won't be easy to impress!
Ultrapool is an arcade-y colorful roguelike that plays like a pool version of Balatro and Super Auto Pets. Pocketing balls gives you score, and extra score gives you money you can spend at the bar to buy and improve your set of balls. Try to survive 10 rounds!

We got both! Easy to pick up pool mechanics: just get the balls in the holes! But as you discover the wacky abilities the balls have, you'll get new ideas of how to get your score ever higher.
A ghost ball that reappears on the table? A chicken ball that lays spherical eggs? A bomb that explodes if you bump it too much? The Earth? Anything is possible (as long as it's round and it rolls nicely, no cubes allowed!)

Once you think you know the game, the cocktail bar opens. Ask the bartender to mix any two balls and he will serve you something special! Some of these will feel like they should break the game wide open, but you'll need every edge you can get if you want to pull off an all nighter.

It really just isn't hitting for me, it's a cool concept but it's just executed in a really boring way. Maybe I'd have more fun with it on mobile but it just doesn't feel like it's worth the current price on steam. It's sad to see the community post gloating about how the game is coming out a day early because the game is ready but things like not being able to rotate the table so you can play fullscreen on PC (Because it's built for portait mode on mobile) and the complete absence of music just show a real lack of polish.

balatro + 8 ball pool is the best explanation anyone can give you\ you can type ludwigunlock on the main menu and it will unlock all the different ballsets

Fun game but progress wont save. That feels really bad for a game like this. Dont buy this till you see a patch saying they fixed this
Amazing "balatro-like" pool game offers incredibly satisfying moments with some really interesting combos from rack building. Enjoyable time overall, but I guess my gripes with the release version is that it feels like it's lacking that "jumping the shark" moment when numbers go crazy consistently. I want more balls, more dynamic snacks, more interesting enemies (perhaps bosses), more interesting ways to continue to improve your build than just rerolling the shop. Wishing you just had more to play is still a good problem to have. Highly recommend for a light fare and I certainly got my money's worth.
I didn't even play a full hour yet, and maybe the game will hit me like Balatro did when I give it more time. The thing is: right now, it did not give me the feeling Balatro gave me from the very beginning. Therefore, the game itself doesn't make me want to play more - I'll just play more to give the game it's fair chance. Maybe it's the sound effects, maybe the graphics when scoring, I can't quite tell you. But after playing for around 40 min, I found myself being bored. Balatro didn't do that to me somehow. I feel like the game needs to give the player something visually or acoustically more rewarding in some way. And also make the rounds more interesting themselves, not just setting the goal higher. Balatro hat the boss blinds for example. I will update this review for sure, maybe changing my opinion, maybe giving you (the developers) a more concrete feedback on what's missing for me. But for now, I would say it's overpriced for what it is. I didn't check out the mobile version (and it's price) but to me, it feels like a game, that could be free on mobile and just hit you with ads you know?
BALL-LOTRO
It's pretty solid for what it is, if you liked Balatro you'll probably enjoy this game. The different sets all have pretty unique playstyles, the snacks in the snackbar have some pretty interesting modifiers to spice up the games. My main complaint right now is that all the ball sprites are 3d objects with only one recognizable side and I don't like having to mouse over the balls to be sure which one I am looking at. It could be easily fixed by a setting that makes all balls rotate face up after they stop moving.
feels terrible with controller, and don't want to have to use a mouse on steam deck
i knew i'd get addicted and still bought it, it takes extreme mental effort to get off the game
