Super fun! Novel platforming.
Terrific little climbing game with a fantastic chiptune soundtrack. The controls are weird at first but after puzzling it all out it allows for super fun and expressive climbing! I kept seeing optional challenges and got in way over my head. Love playing, love listening, tempted to speedrun it haha.
It's short, it's sweet, it's challenging, it's charming, and you play as a Turnip. Brilliant!
Takes a hot minute to get used to the controls but it's pretty well done.
Short and sweet game that was essentially exactly what I wanted from the mechanics of "A Difficult Game About Climbing". The controls feel nice and smooth, although doing jumps in any different direction than up is quite janky and inconsistent. It was a really fun time to go through it, although it didn't wow me. The mechanics are basic, and it lacks any kind of new surprising or interesting twists. Just the basics really nicely executed. I think for me it lacked that last piece of gameplay narrative. Where it flips the mechanics on it's head, maybe make the player only be able to use one arm for a whole level, the turnip could lose it or something, and then regain it. But maybe this time one arm is overtly long or something. Just honestly any kind of extra spice would've put it into an easy 5/5 for me. I loved the presentation and even though the soundtrack is one note it's extremely charming. I appreciate the options with all the color palettes but I think the dev nailed it with the B&W aesthetic and I never wanted to switch off it. Easy recommend for climbing or platforming game fans. But it's not anywhere close to the best of the best.
This game is short and sweet with amazing mechanics and great music - I loved it but unfortunately there isn't very much to do once you get all achievements (and is why i only have 4 hours in it). Otherwise, definitely worth it and I loved how much this reminds me of Celeste as well.
I was very surprised how well this game controlled. I went in somewhat expecting a deliberately frustrating Fodian style game, but instead I found a genuinely well designed and uniquely controlled platform game. In the short time I had with the game it was challenging, but never unfair. Also the art and music were top notch!
