Extremely fun and charming city builder. The islands are pretty, the voices and the one-liners are funny and the mechanics are not too challenging...and it is always sunny in your dictatorship heaven. I got this game for 1 euro - the best value for money I have ever experienced!

i was recommended this specific installation of the tropico franchise to play, and it was very worth it, i loved the game despite the challenges of it. BUT...! there was a running problem i kept coming across, i finished the campaign where El Presidente gets framme fro assassinating the US President and have to escape at the end, then i lose my profile progression and have to start from the very beggining. then i have to re play all of it, everything is good again. then i play the campaign where i have to buy keith preston's company shares, game crashes and forces shutdown in seconds without me doing it, now im back to step one again. i cannot do this again, like i said, the game is excellent and challenging, but this ''Delete my progress without my fault'' shtick is not something i can deal with. if you like the game that is fine and dandy, but if you come across this nonesense, then i won't blame you if you do uninstall and come back in the future like i do.

Full review: https://thegamehoard.com/2026/05/14/picking-up-steam-tropico-4-pc/ Whether it’s working towards completing missions, trying to please the people and faction leaders, or tinkering with the economy to try and keep the island afloat, there’s always something to do in Tropico 4, even if sometimes you’re waiting on the funds to do it. However, those waiting periods are easy to sit through when excellent salsa music and and a cheeky sense of humor keep spirits high. The city management get quite involved even if many islands go through the same starting phases, but once your island starts to take its unique shape, it’s easy to lose track of time as you try to work your way towards a self-sustaining island paradise.
My ideas of living for free in huts and working in mines and fields were not well received. I was liquidated during the civil war.
