For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.

About
Towerix91 is an incremental tower defense game in the style of PC games from the late 80s and early 90s. The interface, styled after old operating systems, creates the atmosphere of a classic strategy game on a vintage computer.
Different types of crystals that drop from enemies are the key to leveling up. The branching upgrade tree offers dozens of options, where each branch splits in two, and the chosen path determines the strategy. More powerful upgrades require rare crystals, which forces you to think through the development of towers and the use of crystals as temporary upgrades during waves.
Towers are placed along walls, their abilities are combined, and special skills and upgrades are used to repel the growing waves of enemies. Defeated enemies leave chests with temporary upgrades, gold, or debuffs.
Towerix91 is a short and sweet tower defense game that took me approximately three hours to complete all stages and get all achievements. Players can unlock both run-based upgrades with gold as well as permanent upgrades by gathering rare materials (crystals) from killing creeps. The upgrade system is straightforward and there are even abilities you can unlock by spending crystals. Upgrades are felt immediately and increase your chances of surviving all waves and reaching bonus rounds. Sometimes enemies drop treasure chests that trigger a slot machine risk/reward mini game. For example, if you choose to spin the slot machine, there may be a chance of destroying a tower or upgrading it. Even if a tower was destroyed, it never ruined my run as I was able to recover or improvise another strategy. This made me actively want to engage with this risk/reward mechanic. This game will likely appeal to those who have played a decent amount of tower defense games and are looking for something new. I also think this could potentially be a good introductory tower defense game for newcomers who have nostalgia for older interfaces or retro graphics. The graphics may be simple, but that's what's exactly appealing about it to me. You can play it in windowed mode or in full screen for the full effect of having of navigating on what appears to be a long-lost operating system. I will say that the UI could be optimized so that it would easier to see how many resources you have and where the upgrades are. However, once you become acquainted with it, it's easy enough to navigate so you can optimize your build and murder all the freak enemies the game throws at you. I don't love the music but can imagine it coming out of an old internal PC speaker which would probably be the best way to experience it.
Towerix91 is a short, yet fun incremental Tower Defense game. As noted by the dev, it is inspired by PC games from the 80’s-90’s - giving it a notably unique look for modern games. There are 10 different areas, or as the game calls then, sectors - with each becoming harder than the last. As you play you will also collect gems to do multiple things like increase the damage of your towers, and unlock new abilities. The gameplay is nothing crazy or overly complicated. There are 5 different towers you can place on specific map points, with the tower type only being limited by gold. The later the round - the more money you receive. Enemies will also constantly drop different gems as they die. There are seven different gems and each tower needs a specific combination of them. The amount and how to obtain are under the “R&D Upgrades tab” where you can also convert gems into other types. This is something I had to do often for rubies and sapphires, since in the later sectors they don’t seem to drop much. Yet there is an abundance of emeralds to easily trade them for. Each of the five towers have their own specialty. Knight has large range and general attacks, with good damage. Berserker has attacks that hit rapidly with good damage, but in turn suffers a short range. Magic shoots out lightning that can chain to enemies. Frost slows enemies, and in later upgrades can freeze the map to slow the whole wave. Inferno leaves a fire AOE on the ground, dealing damage to all who pass by. The best early towers to me were Knight and Berserker. But as you start to unlock the permanent upgrades I would suggest getting a lot of use out of the others, especially Inferno - that tower is very strong later. I was getting to round 50+ on late sectors with those carrying. I’m pretty sure all of my late/long runs purely ended from choice, since I felt like I was so strong it would never end. In a typical TD I would probably recommend nerfing some of these towers and their abilities. For example, there is one ability that gives the enemy an 8% chance to teleport back to the start. Once you clear a wave of the smaller enemies, the elites are impossible to fail as they just teleport back and are guaranteed kills. But incremental games usually want to make the game become trivial for the player, so it is not really a complaint to be made. Although I do think some of the skills are a little *too* strong. But I am also someone who has played a ton of incremental games, therefore I have spent a lot of time at the point of “I have nothing to do but watch”, so maybe it’s just me being picky. Based on the above, if you ever struggle, genuinely just start farming and focusing on upgrades. If you struggle early it may be best to prioritize something like the Knight since they are the cheapest and you can always start with two of them. If you struggle in the later waves, I’d recommend both Inferno and Frost together and focusing on their upgrades. But do use a range of towers! I always make sure I have at least one of each since they all have strength in different departments. You can also temporarily upgrade towers with gold, but also gems relevant to the towers colour. Ruby for Knight, emerald for Berserker, etc. Gold has 3 upgrade levels, with gems having two. You can make the towers do several different things with gem upgrades. Those are buffs like more power (strength), more gold drop on kill, or higher gem chance on kill. Enemies also have a chance to drop chests which can contain stuff like gold or tower upgrades, or if unlucky - can destroy your tower. Each chest rarity shows the chance of failure before you roll, and you can choose to skip opening a chest if you’re unsure. For an incremental game, I found Towerix91 fun and refreshing enough to recommend. It’s very easy for a genre to become repetitive and a lot of the same but I feel this one has done enough to stand out. I can’t say I’m familiar with TD incremental games, after all. The only other complaint I could make is once again, justified by the game’s genre. I wish there was more, that the game was longer and there was more to do since it really is fun. But then you would have to start stepping away from its roots, maybe adding mechanics, fancy bosses… You would just have to go too far into the TD side, and abandon the incremental part of the game. The game was fun nonetheless. I just want more… MORE! Overall, Towerix91 is pretty simple and easy to understand. If you like incremental games, especially those that add something unique and fun to the category, I would suggest you put this one on your radar. The start is genuinely a little tricker than expected so it will take you a bit of time learning the tower strengths and weaknesses, as well as making sure you genuinely worry about the permanent upgrades. I hope this game does well, and that the developer might even go more in-depth with this game, or at least a similar idea, in the future. Regardless, this is a solid, fun recommendation. Simple Clean fun short if you like Vamp Survivors than you understand what you are buying here its not as complex as titles like VS or gnomes but for 3.99$ its very fun 7/10 i like this game could use more units to play around with and more than 10 levels but i like the idea and hope to see more of this or other games like this one
This is a garbage tier 2D retro pixelcrap tower defense game that you might understandably mistake for a genuinely made game... until you see the fake/paid reviews the developer paid for, from the Russian fake review farm uncovered by Sentinels of the Store. There is a kind of game here, it's terrible, a basic bare bones TD with one differentiator (apart from the dismal technical quality), you can gamble on getting upgrades/downgrades with "Fate chests". Otherwise it's a normal cash/gems progression, badly done maps, badly done enemies, badly done everything. This is a cash grab. Let's get into the usual warnings about just how lazy these cash grab/fake games are. The game is very simplistic, small and limited in scope and ambition. This feels more like a tech demo, proof of concept or student homework assignment rather than a fully fledged product designed for PC gamers. As such it doesn't offer any real value as a serious PC game. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. The amateur pixelcrap visual presentation here at best could have been an attempt to use "retro" as a crutch, a weak excuse to avoid admitting the developer wasn't capable of doing the job of a game developer this decade and creating cutting edge, high quality 3D visuals. While a lack of skill or funding is the explanation for this failure, it's no excuse. The end result of this incompetence is a game that looks dramatically inferior to professionally developed games. Terraria and Undertale succeeded despite looking crap, not because they look crap. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. The controls can't be customised because the game has such a dumbed down, simplified interface that it's just point and click stuff like a browser/Flash game. The fact that the interface is this dumbed down might be seen as a problem in itself, however... this is a fairly shallow experience if you're the kind of gamer that likes to play games with deep, rich control schemes and interaction. You'll get none of that here. Some of the defects in the game can be attributed to the poor choice of using node-webkit/NW.js instead of a serious game engine. This is a very poor quality toolset for gaming, sometimes used by amateur developers as it doesn't require advanced game development skills, but unfortunately has very limited capabilities because it's primary function for games is to make simple HTML/browser/simple mobile apps rather than full fledged PC games (and given we are here for PC games, you can see why this is a problem). Just as you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear, you can't make a great video game if you use a terrible engine. The very poor quality of this game puts it squarely on-par with ancient 1990's Flash/Java games, and given it's 2026 (and this was released not so far back in 2026), gamers and the industry expect and deserve better than this kind of low effort shovelware. These flaws make this game fall far short of the professional standards we expect from a modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 8 players, and the worst part is these weren't genuine players, these were the Russian fake review accounts that the developer paid to make the fake reviews. Since the fake reviews are all done, now the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 130 million gamers on Steam and well over 140,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected.
Warning: Review Manipulation! This game features a number of fake positive reviews from accounts known to be in the business of review manipulation/paid reviews. They're all written in either Russian, broken English or ChatGPT AI slop, appear at almost exactly the same time, very shortly after the game launched on Steam, all have a direct Steam purchase of the game, and the accounts are used consistently to write fake reviews for asset flips and other cash grabs/scams. The "Positive" review score on this game should be disregarded due to this blatant, unethical review manipulation. This is done to deceive and scam gamers into paying for a bad product. Due to the 2024 FTC ruling (16 CFR § 465.4, 15 U.S.C. § 45), these fake reviews are a violation of US Federal Law.
Let's look at the price and what kind of value this actually offers gamers. Should you buy this game? Is it one of the best of the 140,000+ games on Steam? Towerix91 has the preposterous price of around $5 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the unethical nature of the developer.
Not really entertaining or balanced. You max out everything in under two hours with no challenge at all, and you're done. If this is what you want, it's fine, otherwise — not worth the time (nor money).
Idle & Incremental Lovers reviewed Towerix91 and gives it a neutral/informational review : While the idea of the Towerix91 (tower defense + incremental) was promising, it offers a way too easy and bland experience. The retro visuals and amazing Win91 type UI may still make it worth it. + The original idea is great + The early 90's visuals are on spot and make old dogs like me feel very nostalgic, particularly for the "Win91" type UI +/- The Tower Defense part, while being based on solid foundations and mechanics, doesn't need your brain to function since you're too easily OP - Poor balance makes the progression way too easy, challenge waves making the early "grind" a breeze and and giving no challenge for the rest of the game - Nothing happens when you finish the last level... disappointing. All in all, if you're here for the nostalgia, buy Towerix91, if you're here for the gameplay, maybe you should pass on this one. Still recommended for the right audience, so. By the way, did you know you can reach peak humor with tower jokes? They always stand tall, never fall flat. Hope this review is helpful! Solid little tower defense game that's leans much more towards the easy side. Game doesn't take too long to 100% taking me ~2 hrs to do.
A nice little incremental tower defense game that is worth the price. The game is not very long and really easy to get into, I failed only a few runs before getting the hang of it.
