About
Touhou Lensed Night Sky, Kaseigai is a nontraditional bullet hell that focuses on a fully modular loadout. The player's own attacks and special effects can be exchanged midway through runs as the situation demands, or simply for fun.
There are a lot of ways to approach the game, with three playable characters, four major difficulty options, and a myriad of challenges and difficulty-lowering options that can be enabled or disabled at will.
This game is a fanwork of Touhou Project, a multimedia series that takes place in a hidden country called Gensokyo. The characters and setting in this game are the same as those in the official releases. However, some time has passed for them. Maybe everyone is not exactly as you recall?
If you're not familiar with the Touhou Project series, don't worry! Touhou Lensed Night Sky, Kaseigai is relatively self-explanatory and doesn't demand additional knowledge in order to be played.
Over three hundred items!
Over a bazillion bullets!
A bunch of achievements!
A bunch of challenges to make the game universally easier or harder!
A ton of marketable plushies, and one absolutely unmarketable one!
One hundred and fifty thousand lines of code! (Most people don't care about this one)
Music!
Art!
Touhou!
And 60 bad endings uniquely written for every possible loss! Never a run wasted if there's a new dumb joke at the end!

Lensed Night Sky is a wonderful work overflowing with passion. I'm personally more fond of roguelikes with a crazy (lack of) balance and LNS fits really nicely into that group, being all about taking the right risks to build yourself towards really powerful item combinations and then figuring out how to use those combinations to get through the fairly difficult boss fights of the game. It should be noted however, that it's still a Touhou game at core and as such your own skill can and will play a part in getting you through situations where you might not have the items to cheese your way through fights. The actual item obtaining process is really cool too, since instead of having enemies drop money they drop stat-ups for 3 different stats, You can only obtain money by either selling 1 point of a stats power or selling other items, and money cannot be kept between shops, As such you always have to wage how low you can afford to go with your stats or which items you can part with to get the better, more expensive ones. Really keeps you on your toes! On the non-gameplay side of things, the game features a wonderful soundtrack in styles that are rarely seen in Touhou Fangames (FIRE LAND LET ME BUY IT PLEASE) and character artworks oozing with. well. Character! The writing is really fun and covers a wide range from thoughtful to silly and happy to tragic, spread out across not just the different stories for the characters but even the many bad endings for game overing at just about any point. In short, if you like touhou and bullet hell shmups in general and want a really unique and wild take on them, do check this game out, it rocks!!

A Touhou hybrid of Shump and Roguelike. Having at least half decent Shump skills is recommended, but even if you don't there are combinations of Curses and Wards (modifiers) that can make runs easier for those who struggle, on top of 4 difficulty settings. The plot and writing is really unique, although having at least general knowledge of Touhou is recommended. There is a demo to try the game out and a special version of the game if you know where to find that.
I think I found this game looking for Touhou games on steam during a sale one time. I think this is a truly special kind of game with an incredible presentation and heart that offsets the very blatantly fanfic-y feel of the story. The game is a like a sequel to Unconnected Marketeers in terms of gameplay (Touhou shmup stages, has a shop occasionally pop up during stages, etc), but with a very Binding of Isaac inspired balance where unlocking everything and making utterly busted loadouts is the goal. One thing I will note is this game is Extremely Western fanfic in terms of it's dialogue and humor which is... interesting. Let's just say there's a ton of swearing, Fumo's are spare lifes in this game, and a random reference to Payday 2. Also interestingly the first few playable characters are Reimu, an older Sumireko, and Chiyuru with Yumemi, with an emphasis on the story of the game being a groundhog day loop. Which said story leans heavily on some old long standing fan theories and alludes to elements to other fan things like Concealed the Conclusion. Also the art is honestly pretty good, the pixel art of the gameplay feels very Studio Pixel inspired (The Cave Story guy) and the Portraits from That One Helltaker's Touhou Guy are nice to look at, along with the very painterly CG's makes the game unique in how it looks (and honestly the mishmash of styles is on brand with Touhou in general lol) The only real bad of this game is... It's kind held together with duct tape and dreams. Once you start getting into the extremely broken loadouts to the game and/or start getting into the autosave system this game has (which you will, as crashes can occur) the stability and performance of this game gets all sorts of whack which can hamper the enjoyment (I should know, I ended up getting a crash against the stage 6 boss with Ms. Unlockable and ended up with no shots, weapons, anything on playing from the autosave with a slow movement speed of ungodly proportions that made me barely unable to beat the final boss at that point) Despite that, I still recommend giving this game a shot, it's a truly unique Touhou shmup, and it'll make you want to hug some Fumo's.
peak but achievements r broken
What a delightful blend of shmup and roguelike. This is really one of the most polished and creative Touhou fan games I've played, and it's an easy recommendation if you're a fan of either of those genres. The one caveat I'll mention for established Touhou fans is that the description is serious about this being a "nontraditional bullet hell." The roguelike elements are just as prominent as the STG elements, if not moreso; memorizing and knowing how to route your way through enemy bullet patterns is important, but that alone isn't good enough to beat the game. It's also a game about learning how the mechanics work; with four playable characters and around 300 items that have wild abilities and interact in unexpected ways, you have to figure out how to make a good build, and like many other roguelikes, the game expects you to have a completely broken build by the time you make it to the last boss. This can be frustrating if the RNG hates you and refuses to give you anything good, but it also makes you want to try just one more time every time you fail, because every run is different, and you are constantly unlocking new things and discovering new abilities. It also has an absolutely fantastic soundtrack and a surprisingly engaging story. No, I'm serious, the epilogue made me feel some emotions I was not expecting to feel here. Give it a chance.
Incredibly good danmkau-style fangame. Music, art, writing and especially gameplay is very good. It's like Unconnected Marketeers on crack.
99% of players quit before they get a non-crashing ITEMS_ANYTHING!
Absolute Yuri (Very much worth the struggle of getting a good run if you have the headspace for it) (Also Also lowkey there's some bs patterns ,but I loved it regardless cause of how pretty they are!)
