Wait for a turn as much as TWWH3, without any of the payoff in terms of fun gameplay when it eventually comes. Dunno, feels bland, not atmospheric, visually really lacking... A few systems that could be interesting if you haven't played TROY and already squeezed everything that this low budget version of TW could offer. Got it on a sale, and still refunded... Not disappointed cuz I didn't expect it to be good in the first place. Total wars from 10 years ago offer a more rewarding experience.
Great Game! Thumbs up

What i like: Great campaign, great battles, great economy system, great diplomacy What i don't like: AI KEEPS TRESPASSING AND I CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT, THERE IS NO ISSUE WARNING BUTTON LIKE IN WH, IF I DECLARE WAR ON THEM BUT I HAVE TREATIES THEN I HAVE TO SUCK ON THE PENALTY AAAA WHY IS THIS STILL A THING The multiplayer campaigns don't work, they desync every turn after 5 or so turns
A lot of the negative reviews talk about the lack of agents, naval battles, and pre battle speeches. To that I say: thank god! The pre battle speeches were fine the first few times I heard them and then after that, I would always skip them. Naval battle always felt tacked on and underwhelming and I would prefer a totally separate Total War game that focused on naval battles. I also always found agents to be the most annoying aspect of any Total War game. Oh cool, the enemy has 19 agents on screen and they're all delaying my army's movement. How fun! Total War Pharoah is a very streamlined and pared down entry into the Total War canon and I mean that in the most complimentary way possible. AND - it still has all the things you want from a total war game: fun battles, great atmosphere and a reasonable amount of resource management and economy features. This is a recommended purchase for sure.
This game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. A full stack of 20 units should not be wiped out by just a couple of units of archers especially when auto-resolve is telling me it's an EZ win with low to high casualties and the power bar pretty much maxed out. Never had this in any other Total War game so don't give me this "get good" crap. And that's not even getting into the ridiculous amount of micro-managing campaign stuff with a total lack of direction
our age of bronze is collapsing, as they say
Ωραια εποχη. Ωραιο gameplay. Ωραια mechanics
Offers you a really big and all rounded up experience, there is more depth to the political and economic management than other total wars I've played. I like it, you have to think before going full yolo with your armies. Also, factions have their flair and special characteristics and the environment really compels you to play gathering ressources in an assymetrical way and compensating via barters. Do not barter with Ea nasir, really cheap copper, not worth. Also map is MEGAHUGE.
While in a lot of ways, it may seem like a copy/paste of Troy, it's a lot more than that. Dynasties is very easily one of the most asymetrical total war games on the market (excluding WH3). This, along with all the primary systems present from the OG Pharaoh release (resources, families, Pharaoh kingdom mechanics, gods, legacies, etc.) create one of the most replayable games in the series. It captures nearly the entire Eastern Mediterainian, and it's really beautiful to look at. The only things holding it back are non-similtaneous 2-player multiplayer and a kind of boring roster for troops. Other than that, this game is easily one of the best in the series. Pharaoah wasn't worth the time, however Dynasties very much so is. Really underrated game, and a legitimately good historical title.
I decided to give this game a chance, despite the poor reviews especially at the time. Turns out it's the best Total War. I can limit the units to 10 instead of 20, which has always been my issue with Total War in general. Now I can both play and enjoy the spectacle. This should be standard.
