Tokyo Xtreme Racer

Un gioco super consigliato, soprattutto per i nostalgici della saga come me, si presenta come il classico racing game arcade ma con componenti di tuning e la possibilità per i più esigenti di impostare ogni parametro per la propria auto, dall'altezza delle sospensioni, ai rapporti del cambio, all'estetica anche se quest'ultima la trovo un po' povera, essendo un arcade le collisioni sono finte come ogni arcade che si rispetti ma chi conosce la saga la apprezza così. Gli unici 2 punti dolenti che ho riscontrato personalmente sono la musica che è terribile, io amo la musica, sono un appassionato di audio e di colonne sonore, ma in questo gioco mi sono trovato costretto a giocare senza musica (questione di gusti, le ho trovate un po' piatte e tutte uguali), e alcuni avversari hanno "forse" dei parametri di accelerazione e sterzata di molto fuori dal comune. Odioso il trofeo di battere ogni avversario senza mai perdere che ti costringe a rifare il gioco per un minimo di 2 volte perché per non perdere mai ti serve fin dall'inizio un'auto da endgame, a meno che non siate dei prodigi del volante e sappiate perfettamente come regolare ogni vettura, per fortuna si può disattivare l'autosave. In ogni caso un bel gioco, divertente, e carino anche graficamente, diverso dal solito gioco di guida in pista in quanto qui si sfreccia sulla famosa autostrada giapponese Shuto Expressway.

Honestly, I was one of those who initially underestimated Tokyo Xtreme Racer and hesitated to give it a chance. However, after reading the many positive reviews, I decided to test it out on Steam, keeping the option to refund it if it didn't meet my expectations. AND From the very first moment I launched the game, it delivered an experience that far exceeded my expectations across several key aspects: 1. Tokyo's Night Atmosphere: The immersive feeling of driving through the vibrant streets of Tokyo at night creates a unique visual and atmospheric experience. 2. Unique Racing System: Relying on an HP or health-point system in street battles rather than just finishing in first place adds a fantastic tactical depth and exciting tension. 3. Car Customization: The deep level of car tuning and attention to both appearance and performance enhances your bond with your vehicle, making it feel like a true personal project. 4. Sense of Speed: The adrenaline rush and excitement while accelerating down the highways at night are executed in a thoroughly engaging and lively way. Conclusion: If you are looking for an authentic and distinctive street racing experience, Tokyo Xtreme Racer is definitely worth playing and should not be missed

Neutral rating overall. Enjoyed for nostalgia's sake, but after roughly 15 hours the gameplay loop is just repetitive. Lots of long, useless driving to hunt down your next opponent. Best strategy still seems to be to try and block or squeeze your opponent into a wall. There are loads of tuning options but no tuning direction provided in-game. And after the second stage it seems like only certain cars even within the same tier of unlock are going to be able to make you progress, so the decent selection of cars is much less open than at first glance. Also, they phoned in the engine sounds...everything sounds like a whiny lawnmower.
