About
A small adventure with a big story. Theropods takes around 2-3 hours to finish. Perfect for an afternoon or a relaxed weekend.
Wordless point-and-click adventure — no dialogue, no subtitles, just animation, sound, and visual storytelling.
An unlikely friendship in a hostile world — a wordless story of bravery, trust, and survival.
Brains over brawn — outsmart dinosaurs, distract barbarians, and puzzle your way out of deadly situations.
A vivid prehistoric world — trek through jungles, valleys, canyons, caves, and wild dinosaur territory.
Gorgeous hand-drawn pixel art brought to life with cinematic frame-by-frame animation.
An immersive soundtrack blending tribal rhythms with eerie sci-fi synthesizers.
A glowing stone crashes from the sky into a young hunter’s village. Its arrival draws a bloodthirsty tribe, who attack the settlement and enslave her people.
Barely escaping into the jungle, she discovers the stone’s true origin: a stranded spaceman whose damaged pod depends on it.
Together, this unlikely pair must cross dinosaur-infested lands to free her tribe and find a way to send him home.
Theropods is a classic point-and-click adventure built around visual logic. Watch how characters move, how creatures behave, and how each scene changes as you poke, prod, and experiment.
Instead of fighting your way through danger, you solve your way through it — distracting predators, avoiding enemies, triggering reactions, and finding clever ways past situations too dangerous to face head-on.
Theropods replaces dialogue trees, long conversations, and text walls with gestures, expressions, sound, and visual storytelling. The story unfolds through action: what characters do, what they notice, and what changes around them.
With no subtitles or text-heavy exposition to translate, the adventure is built to be understood by players anywhere in the world.

Fun little point and click adventure with an entertaining story arc and lots of dinos! Loved the art style and characters and would love to see more from this dev team in the future! Plays smoothly and tries out a lot of different aspects of the point and click style game. Would definitely recommend for a quick and fun playthrough!
A really charming and fun game. From its theme to its story, I had a great time. I played it on the Steam Deck. It already works well with the mouse functionality, but there are currently no hotkeys for Hints and also some of the "quick-time" events might take a small while to get through because you need to click inventory, click on the item and them rush to click on whatever prompt there is. But it never became a real nuisance. All in all, a really good game worth checking out!

Theropods has trumped my expectations at every turn. Fierce heart and soul in every lovingly crafted pixel.
Yeeeah dinos!!! Lovely pixel art and animation, well worth the wait
Beautiful game an a lovely nostitipf old point and clicks, without being overly difficult. while I will admit to being a bit dissapointed in some story elements, it does not detract from the love that has been poured into this game, from the beginings of the flash game to the final product. I highly recommmend it to any who enjoy and old fashiuoned point and click adventure.
THEROPODS
Theropods is a lovely little gem in the Point & Click Adventure Game genre. It is not an incredible game. Another review mentions the similarly released "The Silver Crow", and while this game does have a higher price tag, you are going to beat either of these games in <3 hrs unless you're somewhat bad at puzzle games or leave the client running. Any P&C game that you can knock out in 3 hrs or less just has its limits - you are basically supporting the development of these kinds of games and their developers with your purchase. Why Theropods?

The entire game is diegetic, meaning, there is no text whatsoever, only context clues. This is done well. Don't believe any of the reviews that say the puzzles or environments are hard to interpret. It's a 3 hour game for crying out loud. Those people need to go play Riven.
There's a lovely soundtrack.
There are likeable characters, original art, and several cutscenes.
There's a well written storyline despite its short length.
Many puzzles include interesting timing elements not often used in adventure games. This is particularly nice. Theropods includes a "highlight button" like point and click games have done for quite a long time, but oftentimes developers make the mistake of having the only difficulty in their puzzles be originally related to pixel hunting. Take that away by capitulating to adding the highlight keybind, and players soon find that just knowing where things are trivializes multiple chapters of the game. Well, a highlight button doesn't do a damn thing for you if you have to pay attention to what's happening on the screen and infer from time-based elements.
The game runs flawlessly without any bugs (on Win 10 at least).
Why *not* Theropods?

The 3 hour game time has already been mentioned. If you buy games on steam without looking at reviews, completely ignore completion times by other players, ignore context clues from the game's store page and trailers (and number of achievements, etc.), and then proceed to become irked on account of it being a short game, I don't know what to tell you. The problem exists between the keyboard and the chair.
The diegetic nature of the game's design includes the menus , and while the power button sound effect and simplicity is incredibly satisfying, I can see this being a struggle for some users. If you aren't familiar with the usual save and load symbols, quicksave, and can interpret the pictorial representations of windowed mode, then this will probably be to the game's detriment. It's not hard to accidentally hit the ▶ button on the start screen only to realize that's the "New Game" button when you meant to load a save.
The game overdoes the cutscenes. It's as if a director decided to switch from P&C to Visual Novel in the last chapter of the game, multiple cutscenes separated by a few forced clicks with no player choices.
The puzzle design, while obviously easy and completable, nevertheless has the slightly confusing aspect of never giving the player an explicit goal. You can go places, find items, and do things, and in many cases can infer your goal, but multiple times you are simply going to be trying out actions to see if they do something.
I would recommend this game for the following scenarios: [olist]
You're more than familiar with the difficulty in successfully creating a polished game from start to finish, even if it's lacking in content, and want to support developers while getting a night of fun out of it.
You're a game developer that's interested in wordless forms of game design. This includes communication between NPCs; exacting tutorials for the player for movement, inventory, and at least one surprising system that the game's store page didn't tell you about; and also the effectiveness of pixel art when you are restricted from giving the player any descriptions for anything.
You already have either The Drifter or The Excavation of Hob's Barrow. Those other titles are much more significant in length, largely getting around the short time issue here with a bundle purchase.
You really just like the setting and vibe of the game.
You want a P&C game that could easily be played with a (relatively) young member of your family. There's pixel blood & obviously dinosaur violence - YMMV - but with the wordless aspect of the game, I imagine boredom is unlikely. [/olist] There's definitely a version of this P&C title that's a ~20 hr mainstream title. I hope this game acts as inspiration for that future game to exist, wherever it gets made. If you need a modern significant title for your money that will force you to stop and ruminate, then I direct you to Dimhaven, the Lost Source. Non-sequiturs: • There is obviously no AI art in this game and anyone who insinuates so can't be trusted with a salt shaker. • At least one achievement is easily missable due to the nature of not knowing if clicking on something twice might do something different. Oh, the horror! • One puzzle in the entire game technically requires a single step of backtracking. If this is what drives a negative review, God help any of these people should they play any King's Quest or Quest for Glory title. • Did I mention there are dinosaurs?
Very good point and click, the story, the visual style and the music are great. It only takes about 3 hours to complete, but it has a lot of charm
Playing on an M2 Max MacBook Pro, running macOS 15.7.3 I CANNOT recommend the game to anyone who intends to play on a Mac, the game has hard-locked on me TWICE, and the only way to quit has been by force-quitting via Activity Monitor. The first time was in chapter one which, as I was quite near the beginning, I started again - and I do mean started again because, despite the 'save' icon having appeared on the screen three times, the game hadn't been saving (this is why I don't like games with no manual save system). Had there been a demo available, I might have found this out before purchasing the full game, but there isn’t (or at least if there is, it's no longer available on Steam). The second time was in chapter three, and there was no way I was starting over that time - so i've had to ask for a refund but, because it crashed right on the two-hour deadline, I probably won’t get my money back. I don't believe the game was play-tested - or at least not extensively play-tested - on macOS. Gameplay-wise, it's not a bad game, but the puzzles all have the same mechanic which, for a game which has been in development for five years, is pretty inexcusable. Also, there's no text - at all, I realise there's no real dialogue, but deaf and hearing-impaired people like to play games, too, and I think they'd be left pretty baffled, because it cab be pretty confusing when you can hear the characters grunts. I don't usually take a punt on games on release day, unless I know the developer well - I've never played anything by this developer before, so it was a gamble. It's bundled with The Drifter, which is one of my favourite games of recent times, and that's kind of what pushed me towards giving it a go - everything-wise, it's nothing like The Drifter. I just hope Steam will be benevolent and give me a refund. If the developer fixes these issues, I might think about giving it another go but, for now, on macOS, it's unplayable. Avoid if you intend to play on Mac.
