About
1. Accurate and realistic physics
2. Good maps that replicate real-life conditions
3. A fun multiplayer, because flying alone is boring
There are other simulators that do 1 or 2 of those quite well, but none really do it all for me.
So in 2024 I started with a little prototype to see if it's possible and quickly had something that already felt better than most other simulators.
At the start of this year I decided to go all-in and actually try to make it happen.
1. Physics
I've replicated my own itsFPV ERA 5" quad mostly based on feel, and every time I compare it to real-life footage or Blackbox logs, it's within a few percentage points.
The map choice is also very intentional with it being my home spot where I've flown more than 1000 packs, so I can compare it 1:1 to real-life.
All my Pro-pilot friends who tried it so far can also fly as well as in real-life without having to get used to the Sim first or spending hours dialing in the settings.
The default settings are my personal settings, but you can change the Weight and Power to your liking.
2. Maps
There is currently one map, a replica of my home spot. It's still missing some finer details and a proper surrounding environment, which is actively being worked on.
Going forward, most official maps will be replicas of real spots, and there will be a Custom map builder and Steam Workshop support for whatever crazy training parks you want to build.
3. Multiplayer
The best way to get better and find inspiration is by spectating other pilots. With picture-in-picture spectate mode you can spectate multiple other pilots on the side, while still flying yourself. You can also switch to fullscreen at any time of course.
The multiplayer currently supports up to 32 players on a single server.
Drift cars
Proper environment around the map
Fixed-wing and another special drone that doesn't exist in any Sim yet 👀
A second map with a real spot
Custom map editor
The game is far from finished, but development is very quick with big features being added every couple of days. And it's only getting quicker as I get more comfortable with 3D modeling and game development in general.
By buying the game in the early stages you can support the development in a huge way, and hey, maybe you'll get a little something in return at some point ;)
Keep up with the latest updates on Instagram @thezonefpv or on the community Discord server.
Everything in the game is designed and programmed by sponsored freestyle pilot @nils vo.
A game controller or RC Plane Radio is required to play this game. For the best experience, use a RC Radio.
Learning the basic controls takes about 2–5 hours, and it takes 10–20 hours before you can fly with any accuracy. This is a simulation and training tool, not a fun game you can just pick up and play without practice.

BESTE WO GIBT
The best performance on low end laptop
I've tried many of the popular FPV sims. And feel that this is the best so far, for training that translates over to real flying. Not the fanciest graphics. Not the most polished UI. But so far it have been stable with no crashes. No issues with my controller (TX15). And the flying feels realistic enough to translate well to real flying. And if you have been watching Nils Vo on youtube. You will recognise many of the locations. And he have a bunch of useful tutorials and other.

Definetly... definetly dope..
Very awesome sim.
bester SIm
this sim is great
Recommended! Physics feel really well, maps are good and fun to fly, and the dev ships updates constantly with nice features and improvements. Bought it to support the dev (know this from his yt channel) and the project and i dont regret it! Rest of this is Linux/Proton notes, since that's what I had to figure out. #Linux / Proton Fedora 44, Proton Experimental. Runs out of the box. On first start there is a launch dialog - pick "Play The Zone" (Vulkan), not the DirectX 12 option, that one goes through vkd3d and is slower. #Transmitter over USB (flysky pa01 but over winebus < this will not match if you are using windows>) Radio showed up, but one channel only went 0..100 instead of -100..100 and the game called it an XInput controller. Cause: the radio's HID descriptor says "gamepad", so Wine's winebus maps it to an XInput pad with unipolar triggers. Fix is a Wine registry flag, game closed:
~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/3491280/pfx/system.reg
under [System\\ControlSet001\\Services\\winebus] add
"Map Controllers"=dword:00000000
(or set the same key via protontricks regedit). After that the game sees a plain 8-axis joystick, all axes full range, remap channels in-game and done. Note: switching the radio to "advanced USB joystick" mode in EdgeTX did NOT fix this for me. Not needed. The winebus flag is the whole fix. #Settings for iGPU laptops (Ryzen 5 5650U, Vega 7, 15W) Godot's default Forward+ renderer is heavy for an iGPU. The engine ships a mobile renderer that gave me roughly double the fps at the same look. Launch options:
gamemoderun %command% --rendering-method mobile
#Then in-game: render resolution 75%, textures low, shadows off, stick overlay off (it rendered as a white bar for me), fps cap 60. That holds a steady 60 on a 15W chip. Textures on medium cost about 20 fps - it's memory bandwidth, not GPU. Picture is a bit soft at 75%, that's the render scale, not the renderer - crank it back up if you have the headroom. My Limit here is the 15W package power, GPU sits at 99% and the CPU clocks down. Nothing the game can do about that, a proper GPU will run this at high settings without any problems. Raising the package limit with ryzenadj (20-25W) should give a bit more headroom, but I haven't tested that yet - the chip still holds its own thermal limits, so it's just more heat and fan. Good and well done sim, nice dev/project, works on Linux with radio my flysky pa01 pretty well. Buy it. Fly it. Enjoy it.
