La violencia en los videojuegos es algo que ha servido como un elemento transgresor que puede asegurar ventas y al mismo tiempo atraer, o no, numerosas polémicas según desde el lugar que se la enfoque. Por su parte, The Zebra-Man! (juego que probamos cuando Press Over estuvo en Guerrilla Games Festival de Madrid) lleva esto más allá, a partir de una construcción artística de la ultra violencia con grandes dosis de humor, escenas cinematográficas y situaciones surrealistas. Al iniciar el juego es imposible no vincular gran parte de su estética ultra pixelada y de vista cenital con Hotline Miami, juego de culto publicado por Devolver Digital en 2012, con una secuela en 2015. Sin embargo, mientras fui avanzando, la influencia de otros elementos como South Park, No More Heroes y ¿por qué no? Manhunt se volvió cada vez más evidente, dejando claro que no es un simple homenaje a Hotline Miami. Suena simple en un primer momento, pero al detenerse a pensarlo, es algo muy poderoso; tener la capacidad de imprimir tú ser en un producto interactivo. Con tan solo jugar escasos 5 minutos, estos videojuegos se delatan así mismos ante el jugador. The Zebra-Man! entra en esta definición, pues el título desarrollado y editado por el estudio madrileño Zerouno Games, es un derroche de personalidad, humor y arte muy característicos y propios. Su mezcla de humor, violencia y el arte con el que todo se muestra en pantalla, pueden no ser aptos para todo el mundo. A pesar de ello, si la combinación te atrapa, es una de esas pequeñas joyas del desarrollo de videojuegos nacional.
Received the product from the dev, but as a movie buff I was intending to buy it anyway. 'The Zebra-Man!' is a must for every grindhouse and B movies enthusiast. A charming little gem full of charisma and unpredictability that exudes a grindhouse rawness through every pore. It starts heavy and then takes a sharp turn towards the weird zebraverse craziness, it will get you hooked. Never played Hotline Miami, but 'The Zebra-Man!' actually made me buy it. Give this gem a shot!

TZM is a huge love letter to grindhouse and video games from Grasshopper Manufacture, breaking the traditional rules of videogaming and playing it the way that it wants. The crazy comedy that permeates the entire game will no longer detach from you, and you will hardly forget Zebra and Raccoon! 10/10
