Wonderful... Phenomenal from start to finish. A letter to anything Super hero related the references are vastly detailed from Super Sentai to devil may cry, Viewtiful joe to Fix it Felix The Wonderful 101 has it all. The story is marvellously told as you are gradually introduced to the cast and their abilities. Goosebump inducing battles and tight controls for the most part. I was pleased to learn that this game is free from it's confines of the Wii U and are the awkward Wii U touch screen gestures instead you do them with the right stick which feels so much more natural. The gestures effectively change your unite morph powers, it gets a bit of getting used to but once it all clicks you will dominating your foes. Graphics are simply beautiful and it so nice to see this running at 60 + fps with no drops. Everything flows seamlessly from cutscene to levels to battle climax all accompanied by a soundtrack that is movie worthy, yes it's that good the soundtrack is worth a purchase on it's own. Expect a final battle of biblical portions and (Spoiler Alert) possibly the best attack quote of all time: "Final Ultimate Legendary Earth Power Super Max Justice Future Miracle Dream Beautiful Galaxy Big Bang Little Bang Sunrise Starlight Infinite Fabulous Totally Final Wonderful Arrow Fire!" Yes that's the actual quote... One of the best games you will ever play in your lifetime. Essential Purchase.
A cult classic from the Wii U. This game was slept on but it is one of the best from Platinum, when it was still a fresh studio chock full of legendary industry talent. This is an action game but it plays like nothing else before or since. Instead of a single powerful hero you have a full team who unite to create powerful attacks. You switch "weapons" by drawing shapes with the right analog stick. This takes a while to get used to, although if you ever played Street Fighter then the inputs should feel familiar to you. The action is great, there's a ton of layers of mechanics that interplay well. If you spend the time to learn the systems you will be greatly rewarded. Although this is a linear single player game, there is a lot to discover. Each level is full of secrets and collectables. Replays on higher difficulties in New Game + will be very rewarding as well. The general vibe is Power Rangers meets Gurren Lagaan. If that sounds like something you like, then please check this game out. The story is simple but the characters are endearing and the presentation is just full of humor, polish and heart. Even the QTE fails have unique and hilarious animations. You can tell this was a game created by people who love games, not some global AAA studio churning out slop for the shareholders.
Don't play 101% hard mode, worst mistake of my life
Man, I cant recommend this game. I understand it was super unique and impactful for its time to a certain group of its people. Its art style and story seems fun. But its age, display limitations, and its UI to actually play the game is so bad it literally made me quit playing.
