Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 5.29/day in the week to Aug 10 → 7.57/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Reviews
The Witness is gorgeous - it provides an intricately and lovingly crafted world to explore with incredibly clever puzzles to solve. The game gives you multiple zones to complete without requiring every single puzzle to reach the end - however you are required to master a few specific mechanics in order to properly proceed. So why am I leaving a negative review? Because I think it's important for anybody buying this game to know what they're getting into. This game is tiring. It's tiring solving HUNDREDS of puzzles all themed around the same mechanic - drawing a path. It's tiring having to repeatedly agonise over a single puzzle in a sequence of many. It's tiring having to figure out what smug "gotcha" the developer has pulled on a puzzle and what actions are required to overcome it. It's tiring understanding the rules to a puzzle but not being able to solve it because it combines multiple other rules, and so you have to figure out the one exact line to draw that fulfils all those rules. It's tiring waiting on slow animations, purposely made to be methodical and ponderous (and sometimes to give you time to solve another puzzle) but which end up becoming slow and agonising and pretentious. It's tiring listening to audio journals strewn around which spew quotations from famous figures and are likely meant to tie into the themes of the game (which are never stated), but always just become an annoying buzz of words which you can't wait to be finished. It's like the developer Google searched quotations and pasted them in their entirety, opting for long tedious quotations rather than their own words - in contrast with Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy who speaks very honestly and directly, breaking the fourth wall, and I think to great effect. And worst of all, it's tiring having my progress automatically erased after I finish the game - any desire I had to solve the few remaining puzzles to 100% the game has been erased fully and completely along with my save file. The game also delights in puzzles within puzzles - sometimes multiple layers deep. In many ways this can be a satisfying endeavour and embodies exactly what makes a puzzle game a puzzle game - and yet after about 12 hours and unlocking the final area I ended up finding it grating and I just wanted to be done with it. I sadly resorted to a walkthrough, and even with that it took ages because there were still so many puzzles to do - most of them devilishly tedious due to the amount of time required. Woe betide anybody who tries to solve these without help. Do I think this is a good game? Yes. Do I think this is a GREAT game worth playing? Not really. Do I wish there were more to it than tracing paths repeatedly? Very yes.

Matched by title — a reused name can pair the wrong games. * is a critic aggregate. Prices and positions are each store's United States storefront; Epic charts worldwide. Audience and Score too, except Steam's, which is worldwide.

The Witness insists upon itself at times but I still enjoyed it quite a lot. There's something very satisfying about learning the nature of each set of puzzles. Admittedly, I did look up one or two answers after hours of searching for the right angle on a few individual screens. But I don't feel like I've committed some great sin, for the puzzles are plenty and their cunning will test you more and more; even after you've gotten the logic down.
If you are looking for ONLY puzzles this is a great game. If you are also hoping for a story - well, you're not going to get what you want. There's hints here and there, but there's no clear narrative. You have to do all the optional content to get what crumbs there are - find all the recordings, do all the puzzles, complete all the obelisks. Even with that, I was disappointed there wasn't more insight into a world that clearly has some worldbuilding/backstory that the developers decided they didn't want to share. I will say it has incredible design - just about everything in this game is there for a purpose. A lot of things that have you thinking 'hmm that's interesting' probably ARE more interesting than just for looking at - it might be a clue for nearby puzzles, or part of something else. For all puzzles, there is a way to solve them, and you don't HAVE to guess. If you think you don't have the information you need then you need to look around (possibly, look around while standing in a different place), or maybe go do puzzles somewhere else first and then come back.
I refuse to play a game without sensitivity controls
This game was made by a self-important pseudo-intellectual - a fact that becomes more apparent the longer you play it, which I do not recommend doing.
More Myst Explore mysterious island and solve secrets by drawing lines on the boards and landscape. Many secrets, to complete game without any guides it's not that easy. Landscape divided into multiple distinct environments like areas. Sometimes have to think outside the box to solve some puzzles. Dream like scenery and colorful landscapes encourage player to explore more. Similar to Talos Principle it's really great atmosphere in this one and ideas make it worth recommending to any puzzle enthusiasts.
Annoying
