This game is really cool. Like some other reviews say, go in blind if you can. Its trippy, you never quite know whats happening while you play. I spent some time aboard a research vessel, watching some dude fail to flirt and some admiral be a ♥♥♥♥. Then a giant exit door flies towards me, and I'm blasted back into a desert. I'm in a gift shop? There are little people here! I played with them for a little bit, before one of the bastards fed me a smelly onion. They waved me goodbye and I died (I think). I was now somewhere completely different, on a small island in the sea. I found my way out of that locale, and ended up back in the familiar desert. Then off in the distance, I see a little guy waving at me. They keep beckoning me towards something, and I end up on a hill miles away from the centre of the map. My friend begins to sift through the sand with their hands, and picks up a small piece of something. They wave it around, and do some magic with their mask. I took a while, but once I understood what they wanted me to do together we did some time magic and made an ancient observatory rise out of the sand. We went and got a third friend, then travelled down into its depths. Friend #1 did some more weird hand-magic, and pulled a golden stand arrow out of the air. All three of us grabbed a hold of it, completing some mystical ritual and making the stars above glow bright and fall down to the floor. We each picked up two stars, and the first friend guided us into absorbing the stars into our masks. Mine did a spin, and got all glittery. I don't know what changed, but friend #1 seemed happy. They continued to call me over though, taking me miles further still out into the desert. Arriving at some strange bunker, we once again ventured inside. We travelled through sewers, maintenance tunnels, ancient ruins and up some stairs before arriving in a dried up dead garden. My friend gives me a smug look, and begins bringing the trees back to life with their hand magic. I sit in stunned silence, at this point I'm absolutely blown away by the experience. Then, my friend vanishes into the void with a little wave. They had logged off. Just as powerful of an experience was the next few minutes, wandering about an ethereal ancient garden completely lost and clueless. I tried to learn the hand magic, but only managed to make a hat. It was a cool hat, but it didn't make the trees grow. I tried to find my way back home to the bar at the centre of the map; back to some other people, but I was hopelessly lost. I accepted my fate and took the headset off. Of all the time I've spent in VR, this was some of the best content by far. The boat story part was fun and interesting; the desert adventures with mysterious wispy friends was the real highlight though. The map is staggeringly vast, and full of people just doing their own thing. I get the feeling I could journey through that desert for hours and still find new places and things to explore and do. and to friend #1, thank you.
